Have you ever wondered how alloy wheels were made? This article explains in great detail exactly how alloy wheels go from raw material to finished product. It's quite an interesting process and makes for a great conversation piece. Most alloy wheels are lighter in weight than steel and aids in speed and control of the vehicle. They also act as a heat conductor which will pull away some of the heat from the brakes. This contributes to the safety of the vehicle by decreasing the chances of brake failure. The alloy wheel isn't only used for improving driving conditions. They are very shiny most are intricately designed so they will improve the appearance of the car as well.
Alloy wheels are first made by melting aluminum alloy at extremely high temperatures and then pouring it into a preformed cast. After the metal sets and cools it is trimmed by a machine and then inspected for any imperfections. If there are imperfections on the wheel it is recycled. After all this is finished, the wheels are then sent to a huge oven for heat treatment. This process makes the wheel harder and more durable.
After the heat treatment is over the wheels are then polished to even out the surface for painting. Most manufacturers will test the wheels for leaks after painting to ensure top quality. Some manufacturers will subject the wheels to salt spray tests to check the corrosion resistance level. They are also tested for durability against everyday occurrences, like potholes and curbs. They are then subjected to various impact tests to see what kind of abuse the wheels can take. If the results are not up to par, they are recycled and new wheels are made. Of course the thorough abuse tests are only performed on prototype wheels. The wheels that pass all these tests for durability are then mass produced and sold to the public.
The final step in the process starts with the wheels being sprayed with primer. They are then inspected for any imperfections that may have been missed before. If they pass this inspection they go on to be powder-coated. The wheels must pass one last inspection before hitting the store shelves. They are a bit more expensive than regular steel wheels, but they are cheaper to replace if ever needed.
Whether you are choosing alloy wheels for aesthetics or safety you will not be disappointed. They are built to last with several hundred styles to choose from.
Frank Catamon is an expert on writing about alloy wheels and everything around it. He haves his own alloy wheels store on the internet where he offers cheap alloy wheels and used alloy wheels.
The Lowdown on Bicycle Accidents and Its Lawyers
Riding bikes can both be fun and healthy. It can be an excellent way to exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Likewise, it can be used to bond with family and friends. However, while it can provide enjoyment, bikes have also been an agent for getting scratches, bruises, or become seriously hurt.
Bike injuries can range from mild to serious. Minor injuries may include scratches or bruises while the major ones may consist of head injuries. Bike accidents involve not only adults but also children. In fact, reports have it that compared to automobile accidents. Thirty six percent of the victims are children less than 14 years of age.
Safety Measures when Riding a Bike
However, while we may not predict when accidents will hit us, it is possible to reduce the percentage of bicycle accidents. The following are some guidelines on how to prevent bicycle accidents.
1. Placing headlights or reflectors on your bike - Due to their size, it is hard to notice approaching bicycles during the day. Installing headlights or reflectors at the back of your bicycle can help make it more noticeable to other drivers.
2. Another alternative to reducing bicycle accidents is by putting a horn on your bike and honking it. By doing so, you will be able to alert pedestrians and vehicles that you are approaching.
3. Likewise, avoid driving fast or swerving from one side to another. It would be hard for other vehicles to see you by doing this.
Always bear in mind that other vehicles may not be able to see you. If you have this mindset, it is better to be a defensive driver than to be involved in an accident and become seriously hurt.
What to Do After an Accident
Since we cannot take away the fact that bicycle accidents can happen anytime, here are some important tips that you should bear in mind should you go on and make the culprit liable for damages.
1. Hire the services of bicycle accident lawyers for your protection and assistance in filing a claim
2. Check with your health care provider right away for proper evaluation and treatment.
3. When you are done with the examination, do not forget to ask for copies of medical records and expenses since your lawyer will be needing them in proving the seriousness of your condition as well as in determining compensation
4. Secure an employment certificate if you are presently working for the days you were absent for treatments. This is vital in claiming for loss income
5. Estimate the cost of damages to your bike
6. Obtain a copy of the police report from the responding officer who was present during the accident. It will be a strong help in uncorking the facts and determining the offending party.
7. Get eyewitness accounts
By following the tips mentioned above, you will get an assurance that your right to file a case or settle for claims is assured and followed by all parties involved.

Why do Americans hate Bicycle Riders?
I love riding my bike around town, and took it with me on vacation in Europe. However, I realized that in Europe drivers are actually kind to bikers and share the road; but in America drivers honk their horns, run me over, sometimes even throw things at me out their windows. Another thing I realized is that in America there are no real "bicycle safe" paths, it's all designed for cars. In Europe, they have designated bike areas, and the roads are designed safer. Why is this??
I am going to second what david heisel stated. Americans by and large the fattest, lazies most cowardly and stupidest motorists on the planet.
Americans are like pigeons - nesting in their own excrement. We as a country pretty much just trash everything we touch. We had beautiful and functional cities - trashed them. We moved to the 'burbs - trashed them too. Now out in the exurbs - guess what? It takes an hour or more to drive to your job so while you sit stuck in traffic, you stuff your face and yammer on the phone and get your underwear in a knot if you see somebody up ahead who is using no fuel and taking up very little space to get where he or she is going. You get soooo P.O. ed that you want to kill that person.
It's just a sickness...that's all
Attack of the killer bikes!
Driving through the narrow, pedestrian-heavy intersection of Spring and Crosby streets, Larry Rispanti had his first encounter with the “two married warrior cyclists” who were about to cut short his evening commute back to Jackson Heights. He had just tapped his horn to nudge some tourists away from the box...
