Bicycle fork choices choices choices!!?
I was very lucky to get a gary fisher (or for the hippies phisher) dirt jump frame free, im very light, 120, and want a suspension fork for it im doing a single speed build and would like to try to stick below $800 im a roadie by trade and know a little about mtb but dont know enough about the forks to make a good choice. Im going to use it for light trail riding but mainly urban jumping and basically alot of dicking arround just something to beat on

For 800 dollars you can get a high end dirt jump fork for your Single Speed. If you are doing mostly Urban Jumping and some light trail riding I would stay with a 100 mm travel fork (that is 4 inches of travel ) I recommend the Marzocchi "Dirt Jumper 1" fork. Other great companies like Manitou offer the "Gold Label".
These forks require a 20mm thru axle for the front hub (The Dirt Jumper 3 can be purchased with standard drop outs, so you can use your a standard QR hub.) and all use a disk brake only system. So you will need to buy a set of front disk brakes and a new wheel with a 20mm thru axle front hub. Your $800 should be enough to cover the cost of the fork, a 20mm hubed front wheel and a front disk brake. Delete the front wheel if you purchase a Dirt Jumper 3 with a standard Quick Release hub. But remember the standard QR hub has to be Disk Brake Compatible.
