Sidi Ergo 3 Vent Carbon Shoe - Men's |
|
Even the greatest champions realize defeat from time to time, and a time comes when their dominance is simply over. Similarly, the most advanced cycling shoe on the market, the Sidi Ergo 2 has been surpassed by its successor, the Ergo 3 Vent Carbon Shoes. It has all the same features that made the Ergo 2 such an enviable piece of gear that sponsored pros bought them and hid them under shoe covers adorned with another manufacturer's label. The elemental difference is the addition of venting in the sole to offer selectable airflow into the shoes and four-season comfort. Sidi re-engineered the sole to allow for the venting. It shares the same construction method that they developed with their Carbon Lite sole, yet they've taken out 38 grams in the process. Even with the weight savings, you'll get the same kind of stiffness and razor sharp power transfer you've grown to expect from Sidi. Like Garneau's Ergo Air system, the vent inlet is at the toe. However, Sidi's system can be opened or closed depending on the temperature and your preferences. This, you can do on the bike if necessary. The airflow moves underneath and through the insole to cool your feet in sweltering summer temps. While the sole is important, the closure system can make or break a shoe for us. The Ergo 3 has the same three component arrangement as previous Ergo shoes -- Ratcheting Caliper Buckle, Techno II Buckle, and Velcro Strap. The Ratcheting Caliper Buckle is mated to Sidi's Soft Instep Closure System strap that more evenly spreads the upward stroke pedaling forces across the top of your foot. The buckle on the outside of the foot provides a maximum of two clicks per uptake along with single-click releases, meaning that you can precisely tension the pressure of the strap, even during a race. The Techno II Buckle allows you to micro-adjust strap pressure, so the fit of your upper won't be too loose or too tight. No other system so precisely and so gently provides a custom fit. |

Featured Article:

When it comes to road bike handlebars you can get yours in either aluminum or carbon fiber. You also have an option of traditional 'rounded', ergo/anatomical bars.
Like most people you are wanting to know what the difference is between the various styles. Do these styles really make a difference for you and your riding?
For those who do not know the difference between the different styles here is a simple break down for you.
Traditional rounded bars are completely rounded in the 'drop' portion of the handlebars. The 'drop' portion is where you would put your hands when you want to be lower on your bike.
Ergo handlebars are similar to the traditional bars in shape only. Ergo bars have a 'flat' section in the drops which makes it so your wrists are in a more natural position. Thus helping to eliminate strain on your wrists. They often come with an over-sized top portion of the handlebar making it more comfortable for you. At least that is the idea!
More often than not you will find ergo bars on most new bikes you get from your local bike shop. Some people like them so do not!
If you have shorter fingers you might find it more difficult to reach the shifter/brakes while using the drops.
It is always a good idea to try out a few different bars, brands especially, and see which one your hands like the best.
You are the one who needs to be happy with what you have so you will enjoy using it day after day!

The History of SIDI Shoes - It's About Tradition, Innovation, Quality, Commitment and Passion
The History of SIDI Shoes - It's About Tradition, Innovation, Quality, Commitment and Passion SIDI began its shoe aficionado journey in 1960 as a workshop manufacturing mountain sports footwear. In the 70's they expanded their horizons to include a line of cycling footwear. Not just bicycles, but motorcycles as well; off road and on road boots to be exact. It's funny when you bring up your great new pair of SIDI cycling shoes to a motorcyclist, they usually have no idea SIDI makes great bike shoes. Same thing happens when a motorcyclist mentions his new SIDI boots to a bike enthusiast. Fortunately SIDI excels in both arenas.
With almost 50 years of design excellence, Dino Signori, the founder of SIDI still strives for perfection in every pair of shoes or boots that leaves his workshop. He's passionate about the comfort and quality he produces and stands behind his product 100%. This intuitive knowledge of what his customer's want, as well as what they need, has sky rocketed him to the top of the cycling shoe mountain.
One of the aspects that make SIDI shoes stand out for us is that they will do everything they can to keep your cycling shoes in tip top shape for their lifetime. If it breaks, they will fix it. They stand behind their technology, making advancements each year to assure their customers will receive the most comfortable, reliable and innovative shoes possible. This quality and dedication shine through which is why millions of athletes choose SIDI shoes consistently.
Over the years there have been too many success stories to list, so we'll stick to recent advancements. In 2006 SIDI designed the Full Carbon Sole, a serious step above the foam core soles that were simply wrapped in carbon. The trick was to keep the shoe strong and stiff, yet still comfortable to the rider. Strength and durability is great, but if they hurt your feet, what good are they? By using a specialized grid design to add thickness where it needed to be stiff (like the heel) and thinner layers where it needed to flex(like the toes), SIDI's full carbon sole took SIDI to a new level in design innovation. In 2008, they further advanced the full carbon sole with the Millennium 3 which used injected carbon construction within a nylon matrix. This new infusion technique gave the sole 36% more rigidity than previous models adding more durability for prolonged usage and varying temperature changes. Coming up in 2010 is the new Ergo II model that offers all the prior advancements while allowing the rider to adjust every single spot on the shoe for an absolutely perfect fit each and every ride.
You will notice that for the past several years, the winners off the major races are all wearing SIDI shoes. That really says something about the comfort and quality this company puts out. When Dino Signori put his name on this brand he made a commitment, and to this day he continues to make sure that SIDI shoes remain the best shoe on the market.
