i am getting ready for a 26 mile cycle ride round london
what should I be doing for training and what kind of bits for bikes/cycling is essential.
I currently have a bike....pump and very uncomfortable handle grips and thats it
Start by riding fairly often. Then increase your mileage gradually, like 10% per week. Eventually you want to get half your week's total mileage in one long ride on a weekend.
Get your bike to be more comfortable. You will be spending significant time on it. Experienced riders will probably be glad to help you with it. You can find them hanging around bike shops. The ride organizers can also help you get in touch with experienced riders.
You can do it, especially when you get the confidence to ride for a while, rest for 10-15 minutes, and then ride again. When you finish, you will really have accomplished something worthwhile.
