What if you are riding your bicycle and your tire suddenly went kaput? Of course, you will need to replace it if you do not want to go all the way back carrying a bicycle on your shoulders.
You should know how to put those new bike tires on the rims of the wheel. Rim is what they call the circular metal where the tire is mounted on. In the case of bicycles, this is commonly attached on the outer ends of spokes. This is the one that will basically hold the tire and the tube.
So here is how you can properly attach it:
Step 1: You will need the right size of bike tires, of course. When you have purchased the right one, you can attach it to your bike. Just flip the bike upside down so the tires are facing you and you will have easier access.
Step 2: Get a wrench from your tools and unscrew the two bolts on either side of the wheel. This is what holds the tire to the entire frame of the wheel. After doing so, remove the whole wheel from the bicycle.
Step 3: The next thing you need to do is to get a screwdriver, preferably with a flatter edge. This will make it easier to deflate the tire. You are just going to push the valve and it will automatically deflate.
Step 4: Once the tire has significantly deflated, it will be easier to detach it from the rim. Just push the screwdriver between the tire and the rim. Just make sure you do not puncture the inner tube. Slowly pry the tire including the inner tub away from the rims. After loosening up some parts, you can already do the rest using your hands.
Step 5: If you want to replace the inner tube, this is the best time to do it. Just insert it in the new tire you have bought. Of course, you will need to put it while it is still flat.
Step 6: You can now put it on the rim. Locate the bike rim hole and insert the tire stem in there. Proceed by inserting the rest of the tire in a circular motion. Once you are done attaching the first parts, the rest are easier to insert. You can use a screwdriver to insert the edges of the tire to the rim just make sure you do not puncture it.
Step 7: Place the wheel back in the bicycle again and reattach the bolts. Now you can inflate the tire.

Getting Good Quality Bike Rims
Rims designed for use with rim brakes provide a smooth parallel braking surface, while rims meant for use with disc brakes or hub brakes sometimes lack this surface. Rims can either have a single-wall or double-wall cross section. Single-wall rims are usually less expensive and weaker or heavier; double-wall rims tend to be stronger and more expensive. Double-wall rims may have a deep profile either to reduce aerodynamic drag or for additional strength or rigidity, especially for wheels with fewer spokes. Aluminum rims are reinforced with either steel washers, single eyelets, or double eyelets.
Mountain bikes are used for different purposes, so you need to adjust your bike rim and make it fit to perform its job. Mountain bikes are used for cross country traveling, mountain racing, downhills, off-road racings, and many more. Always remember that the rim is one of the primary considerations because it is where the mountain bike wheels will be mounted upon. When sporting a rim it is always true that the more you pay for, the better quality product you get.
Clincher rims are the most popular types of bike rims used for road bikes. Clincher rims are used with clincher tires (also known as wired-ons or wire-ons), which have a separate airtight inner tube enclosed by the rim and the tire. If the inner part of the rim where the inner tube fits has spoke holes, they must be covered by a rim tape, usually rubber, cloth, or tough plastic, to protect the inner tube.
BMX bikes used tubular or sew-up tires, Some rims are designed for tubular or sew-up tires (also known as singles in Australia), also known as tubulars or tubs, in which the tire is sewn into a tubular shape and then attached to the rim with an adhesive.
In buying bike rims, Get you money’s worth and head towards a bike shop you can trust. Ask your friends who owns bikes. Ask them for the best bike shops they know. Why does the bike tire/inner tube deflate from the valve soon as I take the pump off?
I am trying to pump a tire for my jogging stroller. Just replaced the inner tube and now when I inflate, using a hand pump, it inflates, but then deflates soon as I take the pump off the valve. How can I fix this? Should I just use a mechanical bike pump from the gas station instead?
It sounds like you have a Schraeder valve. See 1st link to verify which type you have.
See if you have a leaky valve by pumping the tube up 1st, using soapy water on top and see if it blows bubbles.
If it leaks, try seeing if the core is loose 1st and screwing it back in. You can use a pair of very small screw drivers or a special cap from an auto parts store. Heck, most bicycle stores and car tire stores should have the valve tool and help you out if necessary.
The 2nd link shows how to replace tubes and tires for smaller wheels like bike and stroller wheels. It gives you all the info you need to replace a tire and tube.
Do not use a gas station pump. Many of them have large tanks and can quickly over fill your tube with air and pop the tube and tire. I've seen it many times, especially on warmer days. They are designed after all to inflate much larger car and truck tires. A standard bike pump is perfect for the task. Not too expensive, bulky, or difficult to use. Plus you can use it on car tires in a pinch.
High river waters could make cooling off dangerous
High water has closed bike trails, but also has made tubing possibly dangerous on the Chippewa River.
