Will a 11-34 cassette work with a SRAM X.0 medium cage rear derailleur?
I have a downhill/freeride mountain bike (Iron Horse Yakuza Kumicho to be specific) that I am trying to buy a new cassette for. It came factory with a 11-32 cassette and a medium cage rear derailleur, but I was wondering if a 11-34 cassette will fit without changing the derailleur. The bike only has a single 36t front ring.
Being you have only one chain ring you will have no problems, the current chain length should be fine.
If you are changing the cassette out due to wear get a new chain and check the chain ring also for wear. There is little sense putting a new cassette on with the other parts being worn out as they will wear out the new cassette fast.
