I have heard so many people complaining abou high gas prices, their declining retirement accounts, and the losses in stock market that I developed a financial to do and not do list. If you can create a profitable business during a recession, then congratulations, because you can practically do anything!
4. You Should build a "Come-Up Cushion." Like my man, Jay-Z said, "even if I fall, I'll land on a bunch of money." During a recession it is inevitable that some people are going to lose their jobs, go into debt, ruin their credit and lose their home or business. You must be prepared so that if you do fall financially, you will have sufficient amounts of capital to come back up and get back on track. On average, it takes about five months to find a job, so stack three to six months of your living expenses for your come-up cushion.
5. You Should Not move money out of the stock market. I don't care how many horror stories you hear about the stock market. Unless you are about to retire, in which you should have already adjusted your investment strategy, do not start moving money around because you will miss out on the capital gains, once the market rebounds. Lets be real, if you are not a professional stock trader and you don't have the time and financial tools like those boys on Wall Street to analyze stocks, you cannot time the market.
Remember, you are investing for ten to thirty years or more from now. One of the greatest investors of all time and currently the wealthiest man in the world, Warren Buffet, said about investing for the average American, "if you are not a professional investor, then just invest in an index fund like the Vanguard 500 and just leave it there and don't touch it."
6. You Should Not lose your "financial common sense." Okay, I know the media constantly reports negative financial news relating to increasing foreclosures, ridiculously expensive gas and food prices, growing unemployment rates and more! But that does not mean you must start acting financially irrational. Do not wait 12 hours just to get $40 of free gas. Let's do the math, that means your time is valued at $3.33 per hour, would you work a job for the same rate? Also, do not go out and buy a hybrid car, or new car just to save on gas expenses. Going thousands of dollars into debt just to save an extra $50 a month does not make financial sense.
7. You Should Not borrow money from your 401(k). If you really need the money and don't have a come-up cushion, I would suggest borrowing from a no fee credit card that has zero percent interest for 12 months or more. If you decide to borrow from your 401(k) anyway, beware of the following: If you quit working or get fired, you must repay the loan in a few months, not the five-year normal payback period. If you cannot repay the loan and default, you will be hit with federal income taxes and a ten percent penalty for early withdrawal.
Finally, when you borrow from your 401(k), you defeat the whole purpose of this tax-deductible investment strategy. When you repay the loan you are using money that has already been taxed and when you make withdraws at 59 ½, you will be taxed AGAIN.
Now take a deep breath, get your financial composure, focus on your wealth plan, and then start putting the the plan into action!

After a month off, I tried the gas and cut very tall grass with my old gas mower. starter rope broke and had several days to fix it, all this time the grass was taller. I like this product. I ended up tying the "key" to a handle bar cross bar w/ a piece of acc. cord (easier to keep track of). It seems to use more power (battery charge) when mulching. I use the bag frame and take the mulch plug out allowing the grass to blow out of the back and, as long as the discharge shoot doesn't get clogged, the mower seems to use less charge. I have found that when I unplug the battery for a short time, when it is fully charged, and plug it back in, the charger shows a red light for a short time then a green light which goes out after a second or 2 then the red light green light process starts over and over.... If I leave it unplugged for a bit longer then plug it back in it works fine, no red light green light process, just a short term red light then back to a solid green light.
I have owned a plug in (corded) mower in the past that when it was "bogged down" in the least the motor would fry and then was useless. I have bogged this mower to the point of almost stopping it and there were no adverse effects. I hope this has helped you lead a more fruitful and productive life? "thank you, come again"

Initial observation after 1st use:
1. Not an effective bagger but impressive mulcher.
2. Cutting is alright.
3. I have .25 acre lawn and the 36-V battery is sufficient to do the job.
4. Overall initial impression is that this is fun to use, clean and quiet and it is one way of reducng our dependency to oil.
5. Hopefully, B&D would come out soon with a more powerful Lithium-Ion batteries on their outdoor tools.

I used the original B&D CMM1000 for 12 years without any problems. It needed no maintenance, and even the blade rarely needed sharpening. After all this time, the battery finally wouldn't take a full charge this year, so I decided to put the cost of a new battery ($125, it's actually two 12 volts in series) towards a new mower. There weren't many cordless mowers 12 years ago, now there seem to be a bunch, but based on my good experience with the older model I decided go with the CM1936. The CM1936 is a dandy mower, alot like the CMM1000 but with a 36 volt removable battery.
My lot is around 1/3 acre, less the footprint of my house and shed. Alot of starting and stopping and picky mowing around my wife's vegetable beds, flower gardens, etc. The CM1936 mows it all without losing power, which it has plenty of. Starts right up, runs quiet, especially when mulching. A single height adjuster takes care of all the wheels. (Hard to believe there are still mowers that make you adjust each wheel separately.) It's really handy to be able to charge the battery somewhere other than where the mower is stored. This looks to be another no-maintenance mower. Unplug it, mow, plug it back in. What more could you ask for. The only con I can think of is the blade seemed a bit dull out of the box.
Give up that stinky gas mower. Go cordless.

Just What I Wanted.
The CM1936 is proving to be perfect for my yard. I was concerned because we kept getting rain after the mower arrived, but the grass was getting so long that I felt I had to mow it before the neighborhood attacked, so I had at it. The long, damp grass was no challenge for the mower, and it has continued to do an excellent job with great convenience. I have only used it to mulch, and will probably only use it in that mode, so can not speak to the grass gathering capability. Excellent product!
