They began by building Go-Peds in their Pleasanton California garage for friends and family that just had to have one and it blossomed from there. Knowing the market opportunities were endless for their fun and safe, carefree design, the Patmont family secured a patent and began shopping their invention around to purveyors of yachts and personal aircraft as a light and portable alternative transportation device to extend transportation choices for various commuting and recreation uses. The Patmont family introduced the patented Cantilevered Independent Dynamic Linkless Indispension (C.I.D.L.I.) in 2005. This revolutionary yet simple and extremely effective suspension system redefined the portable transportation market once again. Off-road enthusiasts and those simply wishing for a more comfortable ride can also experience the amazing benefits of these practical and portable Gopeds. Today Patmont Motor Werks is the world leader in personal transportation and proudly produces the world's finest portable transportation devices out of it's "enlarged garage," a 70,000 square foot state-of-the-art production facility in Minden, Nevada. The Patmont family has kept PMW strong by constantly innovating new and improved products. In addition to an excellent selection of scooters and carts, the introduction of the ESR750 pure electric GoPed scooter line in 2003 offers a zero emission transportation device for those wishing to reduce climate change, their carbon footprint, beat the rising prices of fossil fuel, and foreign oil dependence. |

Some old timers still remember the day of the old "Chopper", and elongated bike frame with high steering handles and a seat that measured about 3 feet. They where the latest fad on the street, and you where lucky if you could get a hold on one of them. Nowadays, bike designing and technology have made way for bike of the twenty first century, the BMX Bike.
The BMX Bike represent the newest generation in bike technology. Evolving from earlier bikes, the BMX bike incorporates a number of new ideas that provide for faster speeds, mobility and overall performance. The incorporation of pegs, for example, adds maneuverability and allows the rider to perform fantastic stunts. A lighter and smaller frame translates into endless possibilities for an experienced rider. Placing your feet on the pegs on the side of the bike and spinning 360 degrees, or flying off the ramp into mid air, are just some examples of what you can do with some practice.
Apparently, riding a BMX bike is a lot more fun than riding your old "stingray", to the point where bike riding centers are commonplace in cities and towns. The BMX bike centers will carry not only the bikes, but also the protective equipment for you to ride safely. Additionally, there are indoor and outdoor ramps that feature all the amenities a bike rider is eager to use. The ramp facilities will have long stretches, winding circles with flips, fly off ramps and many others. For riders seeking maximum excitement some centers will offer a dirt path where you can race your bike at greater speeds and not kill yourself if you happen to fall.
A product of the BMX bike enthusiasm, are the world famous X-Games competition, which top in popularity all other BMX Games of its genre. These BMX games are no secret, and anyone switching the channels is likely to have come across one of their events. One of the things fans should remember, is that most of the stunts performed in these events take years of practice, and should not be tried at home without proper guidance. Those who wish to perform BMX Stunts should be aware necessary protective equipment, the endless hours of practice and that you will fall more than a few times for sure.
However, you don't need to be a professional bike rider to have a BMX bike and draw pleasure from riding it. You can start off by performing some of the easier stunts, or just showing off in the neighborhood. As long as you are responsible enough not to get carried away, and always wear your protective equipment, there is no reason why the fun and excitement of riding a bike can't become your own.

The Rising Popularity Of Bmx Bikes
Riding a BMX bike must be one of the most extreme sports activities of the modern era. Only sports such as skateboarding and bungee jumping match the excitement when riding a BMX bike. These bicycles look and feel more like the equipment for a stunt in a movie, in the sense that they are lightweight, aerodynamically designed and prepared with special gadgets and adjustments to make stunt acts so much easier.
The improved design of the bmx bike includes a lighter, and perfectly balanced body. Attached to the frame are wheels which are six to seven inches smaller than the regular mountain bike. They also feature a shorter and heftier steering handle for maneuvers, as well as a pair of side pegs that protrude from the wheels. The design as well as the special attachments aim to provide ease of use and mobility. Considering the bike will be used to flip, jump off high ramps and turn in mid-air, designers must make every effort to reduce stress on the rider.
Experienced riders of bmx bikes gather at bmx games or competitions to test their skills against each other. These bmx games are big business, attracting thousands of followers and sponsors for experienced bikers. The tracks are mostly dirt paths on outdoor scenery. They are best for long stretches and high jumps. BMX races are not recommended on tough ground like asphalt, since they do not break the fall of the biker when he falls. Races usually integrate ten individual participants, and have a stretch of about forty meters. Like in most races, the objective is to reach the finish line faster than others. However, it is not that simple. The biker will encounter numerous obstacles along the way which will make his trajectory an extreme adventure. Portions of the path will cause the bike to fly off the ramp, only to encounter a hard turn just next to it.
A bmx racer must be prepared to maneuver around all kinds of obstacles, while remaining in the bike. A great deal of experience is required to handle yourself comfortably in a dirt path and perform all these daring stunts necessary in order to win a race. Even the most experienced riders are not allowed to compete unless they wear all the necessary safety equipment. Items like helmets, knee and elbow pads are crucial in order to keep it fun, or a fall could be lethal.
The rise in popularity of bmx bikes is better represented by the inclusion of a bmx game in the Olympic Games in Beijing. BMX competitions are available on television on a regular basis. Sports channels are sure to broadcast events such as the X-Games, live. Engaging in the bmx trend need not be a sad experience. A novice rider should be able to understand the importance of wearing safety equipment at all times. It is also important to keep in mind that stunts do take a lot of practice and falling down. Start with simple maneuvers and work your way up.

Will bmx pegs damage a bmx 3/8 inch axle on a bike if I grind alot and which is better threaded or threadless?
If you are to go with pegs, definitely go with threaded. Leave the original axle nut on, then thread the peg on as tight as you can make it, then add another nut inside the peg. You just need a socket wrench and an extension for this.
Threadless pegs have to use a clearance hole to mount on the axle so it is never a perfect fit. This causes flat spots on the axle threads and makes things messy if you want to remove the rear wheel.
