When looking at BMX bikes, there are many important decisions to be made. How much money do I want to spend? What is more important: a lightweight bike or a durable one? Do I want to ride mostly on the streets or in the dirt? Knowing the answers to these questions can lead to you finding your perfect bike.
There are three styles of BMX bikes: classic BMX, jump bikes and freestyle BMX. What you will be doing with your bike gives you a good idea of which is right for you. If you intend to ride mostly on asphalt, choose the classic BMX (though it is dirt ready if you want to hit the track) or the freestyle BMX (sturdier, and equipped with road tires). Jump bikes are great if you want to ride on ramps, and freestyle bikes are perfect for trick cycling on the street, in the dirt and at a skate park. Freestyle bikes are built the sturdiest of all BMX bikes, so they come out of the shop ready to take a beating.
What type of frame is right for you? Steel(Chromoly) frames are cheaper and sturdier, so they make sense for trick bikes- if you intend to beat up your bike, best to buy one with an affordable replacement cost. Aluminum frames are lightweight, so they are more convenient for casual or street riders. The benefit of an aluminum frame for ramp and jump riding is that their lightness makes the frame easier to lift. Another benefit of aluminum frames is that they don't rust as quickly as steel frames.
Once you have these important differences sorted out, you need to decide on rims and breaks. Each bike has a style of rim generally associated with it, though you can deter from these standards: Freestyle bikes have mag or 48-spoke rims. Jumpers need strong rims, so they generally come with 48-spoke or 36 ultra-heavy-duty 13 gauge spokes. Classic BMX bikes come with 32-spoke rims.
BMX and jump bikes have rear brakes; freestyle bikes have front and rear. Though they can be tailored to your liking, these standards are generally followed, as they are what's most logical for the styles of riding the bikes are designed for.

Participating In The Rage Of Bmx Bikes
When it comes to dangerous extreme sports of today, it is hard not to think about BMX games. Compared to snowboarding, or performing motorbike backflips stunts, its high up in the list of extreme sports. As far as the BMX bikes used in this sport, they are equipped with the latest design technology, in order to make them lightweight and easy to maneuver.
Some of the features on a BMX bike include a lightweight, well balanced frame. Their wheels are 5 to 8 inches smaller in diameter than the regular 20 inches of a regular bike, and have pegs on the side for performing stunts. This system allows for experienced riders to do complete turns while standing still, also called a 360 maneuver.
Another activity derived from the use of BMX bikes, are racetrack competitions. The courses in these tracks are mostly outdoors, on natural soil. They contain acute turns and violent ups and downs, which require much skill and practice to compete in. They have an average of 40 meters long, and allow for up to 10 racers to compete side by side.
Engaging in a BMX bike race means you will fly in mid air, performing flips and turns while racing at great speeds. Thus, racers are not allowed to participate if any of the required safety equipment is missing. These items include knee and elbow pads, chest protector and helmet.
The excitement experienced during BMX bike races is appealing to more and more bike enthusiasts all over the world. Such is their appeal that BMX bike races will now be allowed at the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Many countries like the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom are starting to feature BMX races on television. Not to mention the appearance of bike centers where BMX enthusiasts can meet and practice their bike stunt skills with each other.
Participating in the BMX rush can turn out to be a fun and exciting experience, as long as it is carried out safely and responsibly. Always wear your safety equipment, and never get carried away trying to show off to your friends. For those who don't feel they are quite ready for the field challenge, perhaps they are better off trying their luck with a few bmx online games. BMX games available online are completely safe. You may fall down doing BMX backflips as many times as you want without breaking a bone. Try your routines and techniques before taking them live, plur learn the dynamics of the BMX stunts before you try them. Playing BMX games online is not only fun, it's also free for all to enjoy. However, if at any point you do take it on the road, always remember to wear your safety gear.

how much is my redline proline BMX race bike worth?
i got it a couple years ago, and i think it may be like 4 years old total. but it's in pretty good condition. there is hardly any rust or anything like that on the body. the only part on the bike that needs to be replaced is the chain and tires. all in all, there is nothing wrong with it at all.
how much should i try to sell it for?
i want to get a longboard.
It depends on what type of other things you have on it like what kind of forks, hubs, hed set,etc......... If it is stock from the factory then I don't think you can sell it for more than $150.to $200.00 even that is kinda high. Reselling bmx bike just depends on if there are people out there to buy it. I would consider selling it on e bay. There you have more potential to get more money for it.
