It's 1968, My older brother leaves for Sacremento State College in the ex-family 1957 Desoto which he purchased from my parents for $150.
He gets settled in his dorm and his classes. He starts looking at the classified ads (we were raised on classified ads). He gets excited about a Jag XK120 ad because a good friend of our Dad's brought one by the house a year before - he was selling it for a friend, and we all were transfixed by the car.
My brother makes a deal with the owner and trades the Desoto for the 120. We get "word" in the bi-weekly phone call about this sports car Craig got for the Desoto.
Summer is coming. Craig has made friends with the man who runs the dorm. Craig will be his "Stand-in" and will run maintenance operations for him, for the summer. Craig sees an opportunity to help his 12 year-old bro (me). If I can find the money for the flight, he'll put me to work prepping the dorm units for paint.
I mow lawns. I get it together, and fly to SAC. Craig was going to pick me up in the Jag, but the week before he raced a 1968 Charger to SF to see my other brother in the Navy Brig! He had the carbs on the 120 too lean, and burned a piston at a constant 115 MPH - burned it right on through.
When I saw the 120 I fell in LOVE! The FIRST thing we did is get to work pulling the engine in the parking lot of the dorm. Craig arranged for a long block to be delivered. We changed the head - the 120 was an "S" and the long block had the mild head. As time dragged on past 9PM, I could not take it, and said good night.
At 7AM the next morning I scrambled out to the parking lot to see my brother working on the car. "What time did you get up", I asked. "I didn't go to bed", he said! We worked together and had the "blue bomb" running by noon.
I was NEVER as excited as when we pulled out into SAC traffic with no brakes! We were taking the ONLY transportation we had to go find brake parts! How did we stop? Well, the XK120 has a "fly-off" hand brake - it doesn't "set" until you push down on the top of it. My brother simply pulled hard on the long chrome lever to stop the 3600 pound, two seat "drop-top" giant piece of art!
Anyway, we got it fixed. We got the dorms painted and my dear bro paid me much more than my 12 year-old effort was worth! I flew home with a new LOVE in my heart - I had to find an XK120 of my own!

Freshen Up your Car!
Urban living is monotonous. After waking up in the morning, you go to the office. Then you go home late in the afternoon or early evening.
Your car is one thing that always goes with you whatever and wherever your activity is. To avoid monotony in daily living, why not freshen up your car for you to see something different in and off the road.
How to freshen it up? Start with the exterior.
The exterior is the first thing that people see when looking at your car. Make it stand out among the auto mobiles in the parking area. Make some refinements on the exterior.
Tires easily lift up a car’s appearance. To make them more striking, buy new hubcaps or wheel covers. If you want new rims, get the taller and wider ones to make your vehicle more aggressive. Get the rims designs that suit your taste. Once you change the rims, you must also change the tires so that the two will complement each other.
To add privacy and mystery to your car, tint the windows. You can either apply tinted, adhesive sheets to your windows or replace your windows with tinted glass.
To reflect your personality and the car’s true identity, customize the license plate frame. You can put some fake barbed wires, dollar signs, platinum plates, and lights to enhance the name plate.
Replacing the side mirrors will further contribute to the refreshing of your car. Pair of side mirrors with lights that blink with your turn signals or LED lights that are blue when driving and yellow when signaling are some of the options.

You can also use custom floor mats to further improve the appearance of the floor. Just make sure you choose those which are of good quality and those that will fit your interior. If you prefer, you can select floor mats which are made up of a thick, waterproof rubber to keep mud and snow off the carpeting.
To prevent a leather dash from cracking, use dashboard covers. These further add style and reduce the reflections in your windshield. You can choose from wide varieties of dash covers which are made up of faux and real wood finishes, carbon fiber and metal.
For your stick shift, use a racing cover. Or if you prefer, you can replace it with any number of specialty knob covers. You can choose between a miniature eight ball and one that is ergonomically shaped.
Your turn signal lever can also be replaced with an aluminum lever. You can also change the faceplate on your gauges. For your accelerator, brake and clutch, you can use racing pedals or pedal covers.
Customize your steering wheel. To save your hands from a super-hot wheel, a fabric steering wheel cover is the solution.
If you prefer go all-out refreshments, you can reupholster the seats and carpeting with anything from basic cloth to leather to high-end designer fabrics.
To further enhance the ambiance of the interior, add a stereo system. Other electronic options are speakers, a 16-disc changer, navigation systems, complete with televisions, DVD players, surround sound and a cell phone holder.
With this high tech era, the car electronic options are indefinite in numbers. So when making some improvements in your car, you have very wide options of what to add on.
Those were just few of the thing which you can do to add life to your car’s appearance. After doing it, you will see a significant difference between your old one that seems to add to the monotony of your daily routine and the new one that looks very striking and appealing and refreshes your day.

is a 2007 yz250f a good buy for 4k?
i found a yz250f for 4k it has a fmf 4.1 exhaust and blue clutch and brake levers i was woundering if it is a good buy?
Id say thats a pretty good buy depending how used it is. Otherwise for 4k thats a pretty sweet deal.
