Faith of the Fallen (Sword of Truth, Book 6) List Price: $8.99 Sale Price: $5.03 |
|
Terry Goodkind author of the enormously popular Sword of Truth novels, has forged perhaps his best novel yet, pitting Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell against threats to the freedom of the world that will take them to opposite ends of the world to defeat the forces of chaos and anarchy.Emperor Jagang is rising once again in the Old World and Richard must face him, on his own turf. Richard heads into the Old World with Cara, the Mord-Sith, while his beloved Kahlan remains behind. Unwilling to heed an ancient prophecy, Kahlan raises an army and goes into battle against forces threatening armed insurrection in the Midlands.Separated and fighting for their lives, Richard and Kahlan will be tested to the utmost. Fantasy series fans may argue over the relative merits of Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth, George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire, and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, but in a world of middle books that go nowhere and endless waits between episodes, Goodkind is certainly still serving up some of the best fantasy on today's menu. The Seeker of Truth and his Mother Confessor sweetie are both looking a little worse for the wear after their chime-hunt in Soul of the Fire. To top that off, Lord Rahl finds himself a reluctant prophet with the vision that their cause, the fight for freedom against the Imperial Order, is essentially sunk. (Chalk that up to part of the Wizard's First Rule: people really are stupid.) The two lovers soon find themselves separated, Richard off to the Old World thanks to treacherous Sister of the Dark Nicci, and Kahlan left behind, forced to betray Richard and his prophecy by raising an army to fend off the approaching armies of Emperor Jagang. Whether it's fair or not, Goodkind will likely get beaten up a bit for visiting the trough once too often, à la Jordan. But fear not: Faith of the Fallen does progress at a good clip, and its conclusion--while by no means a final payout--should satisfy. --Paul Hughes |

To ride a motorcycle is to experience a rush like no other. Gone are the protective walls and silent interior of an automobile, replaced instead with the powerful rumble of an exposed engine, vibrations coursing through your body, the feel of the wind against you on the open road. An experience that is unlike any other.
It is also an experience that can end your life when the proper caution is not used. By making safety your top priority as a motorcyclist, you can keep yourself and other motorists on the road free from harm by following this list of safety tips.
1. Make sure to check the tire pressure on a regular basis. Maintaining the proper tire pressure on your motorcycle will not only ensure the best performance, but will also extend the longevity of your tires. The correct tire pressure can be found on the tire itself, and if a range is given, make sure to stick to the high end.
Keeping the tire pressure within the recommended amount will enable you to control your motorcycle the best. If you go for extended periods of time without checking the tire pressure, you could be setting yourself up for tires that are underinflated, a deadly scenario.
2. Always test your brake lever to ensure that the brakes are functioning properly. The lever should never get within less than half an inch to your grip, this will help prevent something from snagging on it or otherwise impairing your ability to stop. On the other hand, a lever that moves too far may indicate air in the brake fluid. Any of the above problems should be corrected before attempting to ride.
3. Operating any vehicle requires focus, but to a vulnerable motorcyclist distractions need to be kept at a minimum. A motorcyclist cannot afford to have even minor distractions, such as a radio, interfere with the complete and total concentration needed while navigating in any type of situation, be it a busy intersection or a run-in with foul weather.
4. Riding in a group can make for a great trip, just keep your sites on the lead bike and maintain a safe riding distance between you and the bike in front of you. Too short a distance between bikes, or getting out of synch with your riding party can both result in accidents - some of which could be fatal.
This list does not entail or prepare you for everything you need to know about becoming a motorcyclist. In fact, if you are a beginner to this adventurous lifestyle, then you should start it off right by taking a course. The safety tips mentioned in this article, however, are worth bearing in mind while out on the open road. Remember: Stick to the tips, obey the law, and always keep safety your first priority.

Introduction of the R 1200 Rt
Sport touring and touring bikes provide impressive performance with increased power and reduced weight. The R 1200 RT exhibits excellent handling and ride comfort. The design of model is characterized by clean lines and striking surfaces. In the R 1200 RT, the body fairing is subdivided into separate areas and occupies different levels. This visually highlights the already light feel of the motorcycle. Together with the electrically adjustable windshield, the fairing provides protection from wind and weather.
The RT series arrived in 2005 with the introduction of the R 1200 RT, which continues into the 2007 model year with color and other changes. The design of this model is completely different from the R 1150 RT with a 15% boost in power, 20 kg (44 lb) weight saving, optional electronically adjustable suspension and on-board computer. The servo powered ABS brakes on the 2005 and 2006 models are partially integrated such that the rear brake pedal only applies the rear brake while the front brake lever applies both brakes.
The new R1200RT takes the concept further with more power, less weight, and more comfort and safety features.
The new balance-shaft-equipped Boxer engine delivers a smooth 110 horsepower through a slick 6-speed gearbox. The standard anti-lock braking system is the BMW's Integral Generation II with automatic brake force distribution. The foot lever operates the rear brake only, as desired by many enthusiast riders. Every bike also is equipped with heated handgrips, and electrically-adjusted windshield, and adjustable rider seat height. An optional Electronic Suspension Adjustment system (ESA) sets the suspension for load and road conditions at the touch of a button. Electronic cruise control, heated seats, a sound system and more are available. Yet, this full-featured touring bike has a basic dry weight of only 504 pounds! The R1200RT is superbly set up for long-distance touring without sacrificing riding enjoyment.

How do you fix a 1996 Honda Civic parking brake button that is too far down the lever?
The button is too far down the lever. In order to release the parking brake, I have to use a pen or my little finger to reach down the handle and press it in. I want to know how to set the button back to it's standard position so I can press it normally to release the parking brake. Please drop some knowledge!
There is an internal spring, that is either broke or off track.
