From the company's initial cast-magnesium MotoMag wheels to its current crop of BMX, mountain, and pavement bikes, the Mongoose name has been synonymous with bicycle performance. Mongoose builds specifically for riders, which is why the company's BMX designers aren't wasting time watching reruns on ESPN2. Instead, they're constantly testing their new designs at the park, on the track, and on the hill. This continuous experimentation is what drives Mongoose to cook up things like the Front Porch head tube, which lets you fine-tune the handling on Black Diamond series mountain bikes, or Freedrive suspension technology, which eliminates pedal bob and provides a super-efficient full suspension. Mongoose bikes don't just push the limits; they set new ones. |

Featured Article:

I have to say, growing up in Buffalo, NY with a dad who was a contractor, I was quite sheltered from the fact that "most women do not use power tools". I really had no clue that there was an kind of sex discrimination in the contracting or power tool world. Naive me, all that I heard about was how my Aunt Ronny helped my dad put the roof on our house and my Aunt Marge was refinishing all the woodwork in her home.
I guess I am lucky because I was brought up thinking that as a woman, there wasn't anything I could not figure out how to fix or remodel or any power tool I could not use. When I bought my first condo, my dad brought me a suitcase full of power tools on his first visit.
My view of reality and discrimination has broadened but luckily my sense of "being able to fix anything myself or use power tools" has stayed the same. I am surprised when power tool manufacturers put out a line of power tools specially designed for women. Personally, I would never purchase a pink tool - or one to fit a woman's hand. I really just want the best quality tool for the job. There are small men who use tools.
I get it though. I have many girl friends who don't even know how to hang blinds or even own a hammer for that matter. There are many women who weren't as fortunate to have the upbringing I did, and the dad I did and did not learn how to use power tools. I have my Real Estate license in Colorado and have helped many of my single women friends purchase their first home, on their own. With more and more women owning homes, there is a definite need to cater to women in the DIY and Home Improvement field and I am all for it.
Articles like Ms. Fix-it in the Wall Street Journal state that "Home Depot has introduced "Do It Herself" clinics for women interested in learning how to use a stud finder; the classes are evidently a success since, as NPR has reported, in some locales the store is becoming known as a hot singles spot. Even schoolgirls are joining the revolution. The Girl Scouts now offer a Ms. Fix-It badge for members eager to learn how to rewire a lamp or fix a leaky toilet, and an outfit called Vermont Work for Women has introduced a summer program called Rosie's (as in Rosie the Riveter) Girls promising hands on instruction in the skilled trades."
It's these types of informative articles and the paradigm shift that is happening in our society that will change the Google search for "women and power tools" to practical.

Razor Pocket Mod Scooter- 4 Cool Features Of The Pocket Mod
The biggest surprise at our daughter's 10th birthday party was the look on her face when she first laid eyes on the Razor Pocket Mod scooter! In fact, she didn't even believe it was intended as a gift until we convinced her. Now, she rides it religiously, and has learned to love it's many features!
She had always been envious of her two best friends, who live in our neighborhood and ride cute little pink electric scooters. Of course they have to have the matching pink knee pads and helmets, too!
So now, they ride together almost daily. They are quite a sight to see as they "buzz" around the neighborhood.
The cool thing is that we actually got my wife to ride the Razor Pocket Mod scooter. I wanted to get her opinion of the various features.
Firstly, she was REAL impressed with how fast it would go. She weighs about 135 lbs, and it still topped out at 15 mph, as advertised. As opposed to many models designed for kids, the Pocket Mod has a handy storage compartment.
My wife liked the fact that she had a place to put her purse etc.
She mentioned that the twist grip throttle was not only responsive, but kind of fun, too!One little twist, and she took off like a rocket!
The brakes are hand grip, "bicycle style", and they provide very sure braking. What really surprised her was the suspension. Apparently, it provides a smooth ride even over a bumpy surface.
The smooth ride is probably due to it's hefty weight of 90 lbs, and 12 inch pneumatic tires. The Razor Pocket Mod scooter will run continuously for up to 30 minutes on a charge, and charging the battery pack is a breeze.

Has anyone used 4X8 sheets of blue or pink foam insulation for padding under your pool ?
I have a 24' pool that needs a new liner and I was wondering if anyone has used pink or blue 1.5" to 2" foam 4x8 sheets of insulation to line the bottom of a new pool liner install ? What's the difference between blue and pink ? Do you think any of the chemicals in the insulation will prematurely brake down the liner ? I want to use the insulation insted of sand for added padding.
foam sheets are by density, thickness, and R value.
For padding any will work. and broken foamys can be duct taped together. 1/2" & 3/4" topped with Luan works great for a floor in both the shed & workshop. found foamys in the city cleanup. : )
Pool use? will find out this summer, plan to pad the fish pond.
note - broken foamys with out a top may shift and move and yes ants and beetles can be a rare nusiance.
sand is the #1 padding for any pool.
