Putting your car to a stop requires more than just stepping on the brake pedal. It is a collective function of car components known as the braking system. Hydraulic pressure is used in order to activate the brake assemblies that slow down or stop your car. The Pontiac brake pad is among the various parts of your braking system that needs to be checked once in a while. This braking system component plays an indispensable role in your braking assist.
Basically, your Pontiac brake pad takes the brunt of the frictional force that is needed in slowing or stopping your car. It serves the primary function of activating the hydraulic line. Originally, this braking system component is made out of organic ingredients, wherein carbon and asbestos were used. A strong resin holds them together in order to come up with a brake pad. However, the use of asbestos was banned by the US government because asbestos was found to contain substances that can be harmful to the respiratory system of humans. Kevlar was then used as a replacement for asbestos, the same material that is utilized for making bullet proof vests. Modern brake pads are now considered semi-metallic—using brass, copper, and steel wool shavings as main ingredients held together in a resin. The only drawback is that they have a higher incidence of grinding noises. The metal shavings normally rub against the steel rotors each time you apply the brakes, so this is largely unavoidable.
Your Pontiac vehicle is typically equipped with 2 brake pads per disc rotor. They are held in place and are actuated by a caliper that is affixed to the suspension or wheel hub. Depending upon the intended use of your car, you can choose from the different types of brake pads—from very soft and aggressive, to the harder, and more durable ones. They may be of different types, every Pontiac brake pad is made up of two main parts: the actual friction material and the steel backing. Kinetic energy is being converted into heat energy by the friction material present in your brake pad. Do you wear gloves when handling engine oil or brake fluid and pads? If so, what type or brand of gloves?
Wanting to hear from people who work on cars either at work or their own, do you use gloves when handling fluids or working on the car, and if so, what brand and type do you use?
I use Nitrile gloves. I've only had a problem with latex gloves if gasoline is spilled on them. Oil doesn't affect them and they are good when doing brakes.
I switched to nitrile because they don't tear as easily.

What things have gone wrong with the car? Daewoo 1.5i - 1498cc EFI engine made by Holden. Gone wrong. Nothing yet, only had it two weeks. But, rattles and squeaks and the usual brittle Korean plastic components! Much work done to "de-rattle" the entire centre console and dashboard.
