Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2: Pacific Theater Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2: Pacific Theater
List Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $8.40

In Combat Flight Simulator 2, you'll expereince an era of history that defines the future -- you'll become a combat pilot during the Second World War!

Combat Flight Simulator 2 is a dream come true for historic flight sim fans. Excellent graphics, great sound effects, and adjustable realism settings make CFS2 a thrilling and accessible sortie into the unfriendly skies of the South Pacific during World War II. After choosing to fly for the Japanese or American forces, you can pick from a selection of seven ultrarealistic aircraft. Experienced flight sim fans will drool over the plane models, accurate down to the number of rivets. Newbies will appreciate the excellent flight and landing tutorials. There are over 100 missions to fly, many based on historic missions from the war. This unusual level of realism and attention to detail comes from the game developers' personal love of flight: many members of the CFS2 team are pilots. Their extensive research included interviews with Japanese and U.S. aces from the real war in the Pacific. The missions themselves are lengthy and often complex, and are just as accurate as the planes; players take part in history, but cannot change the outcomes of battles. Because the action takes place in the South Pacific don't expect to see a wide variety of ground scenery. Not that you'll miss it: the water, small islands, planes, aircraft carriers, and battleships are always very sharp and detailed. However, if you expect to play with the graphics at their best settings, be aware that you'll need a blazing fast machine with a fast video card. On lesser computers, the graphics in Combat Flight Simulator 2 start to degrade from stunning to merely ordinary. The between-mission story arc is told through 1940s-style comic book panels. The artwork does a good job of moving the story along while giving the feeling that your character and his fellow flyboys are aware they're never far from instant death. That the game also allows you to fly the full Japanese side of the campaign gives the player an interesting glimpse at the Japanese perspective of the war. While the game does include such famous planes as the U.S. Corsair, Wildcat, P38F Lightning, and Japanese Zero, its mere total of seven craft left us wanting more. We were impressed with the vastly different handling of each plane, but the lack of variety is disappointing. But this is a relatively small shortcoming in an otherwise deep and involving game. If you have a powerful enough PC, Combat Flight Simulator 2 is a delight, and is sure to please both war historians and flight sim enthusiasts.--Mark Brooks Pros: Easy to get into, but can be adjusted to become very difficult and realistic On highest-quality graphics settings, the game is simply gorgeous Plenty of missions and great tutorials Full Japanese campaign adds depth and historical balance Cons: Only seven flyable aircraft Steep system requirements

Fight for control over the skies of the South Pacific in Combat Flight Simulator 2: Pacific Theater. You'll start as a rookie ensign and, if you're good, progress through the ranks. Fly for either the United States or the Imperial Japanese in meticulously realistic aircraft models. And, you can alter history in your favor with the game's graphical mission editor and campaign builder.

NHL 2001 NHL 2001
List Price: $44.99
Sale Price: $14.99

This software is BRAND NEW. Packaging may differ slightly from the stock photo above. Please click on our logo above to see over 15,000 titles in stock.

Everything a hockey fan could possibly want is packed into the triumphant NHL 2001. While 2001 isn't tremendously different from previous editions, the subtle improvements are welcome. You'll get 30 NHL teams, including the expansion Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild, plus 20 international teams. Of course, you'll also get all the current players and team uniforms. Desktop managers will have plenty of fun messing with player stats along with both fantasy and rookie drafts and player trades. Old-school fans will like the ability to play their favorite squads in their colors, but also in their throwback uniforms from way back in the day. Even if this is your rookie hockey season, you'll find NHL 2001 surprisingly easy to get into. You'll quickly be able to smack the puck around the ice with ease, and performing painful-looking body checks is as simple as skating into a wall. The PC generally plays a very tough game, but thanks to adjustable difficulty, fast reflexes, and a little management magic, you will soon virtually hoist the Stanley Cup over your virtual head. And that virtual head may look familiar: with some work you can import an image of your face and put yourself in the game. Always wanted to check Lemieux into his bench? Now you can. Of EA's famous sports titles this year, NHL 2001 has the most lifelike player renders and animations. Every single player is easily recognizable and shows a staggering amount of detail in both faces and gear. The on-ice action is both quick and smooth. You'll need a speedy machine with a decent video card to witness the high-quality visuals, but all hockey fans will think it's worth the investment. The computer plays a very tough game, especially on defense. On higher-difficulty settings, it's extremely tough to penetrate the PC's reactions to your every move. You'll see the defense step up its efforts whenever you have a lead and time is running out. Yet somehow it seems fairly realistic to watch a team almost panic when there's only a few ticks left on the clock. Casual and hard-core stat fanatics will find much to enjoy with NHL 2001. And even if you don't know a hockey puck from a basketball, you'll quickly learn why EA dominates PC hockey better than Hasek dominates the net. --Mark Brooks Pros: Graphics so good, the uninitiated may confuse it for a televised game Simplistic yet functional controls Many, many customization and managerial options Cons: Commentary quickly gets repetitive Not a huge gameplay leap over previous editions

What would you expect from NHL 2001? Thirty NHL teams, including the expansion teams Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild? Yes, they're all there, but the game also has 20 international teams, including Ukraine and Latvia. You can go in for just one game, or stick with it through the whole season. And now, you can try out Career Mode, where you can delve into the proplayer experience of drafts, trades, and free agency. Also, you can customize your games with a jersey editor, a logo importer, even EA's Face in the Game feature, which allows you to paste a picture of your face onto a character model. Eager to compete? Try the online-play feature, where you can meet other players via the Internet and compete head-to-head against them.

Both WWE and TNA have their own divisions of women wrestlers.  For World Wrestling Entertainment, it's the WWE Divas.  For Total Nonstop Action, its the TNA Knockouts.  These female fighters are among the hottest, most talented sports entertainment athletes on the planet.  But the big question is, which of these groups of women would fare better in a wrestling match?

To determine a winner in the TNA Knockouts vs WWE Divas battle, you could have them fight it out in several ways.  They could have a massive battle royal with all of the divas and knockouts in the ring.  These types of matches give both sides a fair chance, because divas and knockouts can work together or against one another.  One of the biggest knockouts is Awesome Kong, who weighs nearly 300 pounds.  In a battle royal, divas could work together to try to eliminate her.  Once the dust settles you would have one winner in the ring representing one of the two company's female wrestlers.

Another one to decide this issue would be to hold an entire Women's Wrestling Pay-Per-View featuring divas and knockouts in singles and/or tag team matches.  Each match would count as a win, lose or draw for either the divas or knockouts.  At the end of the show, you could tally up all wins and losses to determine which group was best.  For WWE you have talents like Mickie James, Gail Kim, Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix.  TNA has Taylor Wilde, Angelina Love, Tara and Traci Brooks.   The knockouts may seem to have an advantage with Awesome Kong, but the divas have Beth Phoenix, who is one of the strongest women in wrestling today.  You could have individual matches, or simply select the 5 best women wrestlers from each company and hold an elimination style tag match, until one side was victorious.

Is it possible to prove one side is better in a TNA Knockouts vs WWE Divas battle?  Fans might have to continue to debate this argument until the two companies decide it's time to put the argument to rest.  A divas and knockouts Pay-Per-View might be one of the biggest sellers in PPV history though, so they should definitely consider it.

Kevin Durant Coming Out Party

Do you know who is the leading scorer in the NBA since the calendar flipped to 2009?

LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade? Good choices all, but the man, make that man-child, putting up the most point since January 1st is 20 year-old Kevin Durant.

How on earth, then, did a young man who is averaging 26 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game miss out on this weekend's All-Star game?

Maybe coach Phil Jackson wants to reward more seasoned players like David West. Maybe he wants to force rookies to pay their dues, even if Durant is one of the most dynamic young players in the league's history. Or maybe being stuck in Oklahoma City on a horrible team, with more national intrigue surrounding Greg Oden, who was mistakenly taken by the superior Portland Trailblazers before Durant in the 2007 NBA Draft, is a recipe for anonymity. Let's be honest, the Thunder don't exactly lead SportsCenter's highlight reels on any night of the week.

Maybe people have simply not taken notice of Durant, who has scored at least 31 points in four of his team's last five games leading up to the All-Star break, including a 31-10 against the Lakers (and coach Phil Jackson).  All of that should change starting today. With the NBA on a break and all pro basketball eyes focused on the Rookie Challenge, Durant went crazy for 46 points, shattering the game's previous scoring record by 10 points. He may not have made the Western Conference All-Stars, but Friday night was undoubtedly the coming-out party for the second year player from the University of Texas.

For his part, Durant has taken the slight in stride and has the maturity to realize that while he may be underrated, his time will come. In the meantime, he will sharpen his tools, and toil in obscurity. But this is no overnight success story.

"Coming into the year, I just told myself to get better. If that comes up, it does," said Durant of All-Star recognition. "Unfortunately, I didn't make it this year, but hopefully I have more years to come. I am excited for what this team has in store, and I just need to continue to work."

While the nation may not be aware of his potential quite yet, people who have been watching know what Durant, a player with a 7'+ wingspan and unlimited shooting range, can bring to the table, including his coach, a former gym rat like Durant, Scott Brooks.

"He needs to just keep improving," Brooks said. "One thing about Kevin, he is a gym rat. He wants to get better, and he will get better. It is what he is about. He embodies what our team is about, continue to work and continue to improve, and continue to play together. Kevin does that. He does it every night. He is a very consistent player, and we are all proud of his efforts."

Durant's hard work and team play have seen an increase in all of his numbers this year, raising his averages in scoring, rebounding and assists but 6, 2 and .5, respectively. But it's not just his numbers that are up, he is learning to take better shots, playing better team and individual defense, while improving his shooting percentages from the field and beyond the arc to 47 percent and 43 percent. His game seems to have no weaknesses, except for the fact that it hasn't seemed to draw attention to itself. After Friday night in Phoenix, all of that should change.

Football cards aren't really worth much now days. The only one possibly worth anything in your list is the Marshall Faulk rookie card. If it's in perfect condition, it might be worth a few bucks on Ebay. But I wouldn't get my hopes too high.
