Many people have now turned to cycling as their new sport or hobby. Aside from its physical benefits, cycling is actually also very entertaining. However, the bicycle is not the only thing cyclists need. They also need other accessories or protective gear that they must wear in order to protect themselves from potentially harmful environmental agents.
At present, people wear helmets in order to protect their heads. But, back then, their means of protecting their heads were through cycling hats. Although only a few use cycling hats as the only means of protection nowadays as the Government has mandated the use of helmets, many are still wearing these hats underneath their helmets.
The hats prevent the harmful rays of the sun from hitting the skin of the face or the head. Aside from that, it also keeps the sun's rays from hitting the eyes directly. Naturally, when the eyes are distracted by the sun's glare, they partially close up, which makes it even harder for the cyclist to see things. This can be a potentially dangerous situation for the cyclist since vision should always be prioritized.
Apart from the sun's rays, the hat also protect the eyes from the invasion of small bugs. When the cyclists are nature lovers, they tend to cycle through a forest-y environment. Although it is thrilling, they cannot deny the fact that there are a lot of flying bugs that will always attempt to buzz into their ears, nose, mouth, and even the eyes. The cycling hat, in addition to the helmet, will keep these critters away from the cyclist's most delicate body parts. The main part of the hat that is responsible for keeping these crawlers away is the visor that is located at the front brim of the hat.
The hat also keeps the hair in place despite the strongest winds. The hair, especially for those who have long hair, or bangs, can cover the eyes and impede proper vision. This can distract the cyclist and cause the cyclist to fall or bump into something. This is why it is highly important that the hair is kept in place. A cycling hat can get this done because of its snug fit.
The helmet is purposely designed to be a hard object so that it can thoroughly protect the head. However, when the ride gets bumpy, the hard parts of the helmet may rub against the bald areas of the cyclist and can cause some absolutely painful blisters. This is why they must wear the cycling hat because it serves as the cushion for the head for the entire duration of the cycling trip.

Brooklyn Cycling Style For Your Bicycle Riding
With the rise in the track cycling on the city streets over the past few years more folks are out and about on their bicycles. You might have noticed that these people do not look like the regular cycling commuter. Instead they have a combined look of someone younger and bicycle couriers.
This whole look rose out of the New York City courier scene. These couriers have been riding the mean streets of NYC for many years. One thing that they developed over the years was a special design of bicycle. What they developed was a bicycle that could be locked up in urban centers when they went to deliver packages. These bicycles lacked most parts that are common on your regular bicycles because they were worried about parts being stolen which would mean additional cost and plus they would have to stop working so they could replace the stolen parts. The bikes would have no brakes and most importantly no gears. The couriers started a whole new trend of using track racing bicycles on the street something most people avoided because of the lack of brakes.
Move forward several years from the 1980 when this trend was just appearing in different cities more people started to adapt this courier bicycle style into something more refined. The rise of the whole hipster movement means that more people besides bicycle couriers have started to ride these New York City inspired bikes. One feature of the new hipster culture is that the bikes have developed certain fashion status. Many people have bikes that have matching and coloured bicycle rims which no working courier would ever use because of the expense involved in the purchase.
Also the hipster cycling movement includes many fashion statements besides the look of the bicycle. Many vintage cycling clothing items have reappeared after disappearing for several years. Most second hand clothing stores will now be selling several different styles of retro cycling jerseys that are very popular. The biggest sellers are the Molteni cycling jersey and the Brooklyn cycling jersey. Also the hipster cyclist knows that they should have the matching cycling cap when they are out riding their bicycle so you will notice many of those on the road. You can find dozens of old vintage cycling caps on the internet including some Campagnolo and Cinelli caps which are true Italian classics. At least the caps do not cost to much money compared to other items that the hipster cyclist needs to buy to make sure their bicycle looks good.

Bike components question?
I am looking at a used bike that has campagnolo components on it. The crank is from the chorus group set and the drive train and brakes are from the centaur group set. I was just wondering if this is good stuff and if possible can anyone compare it to a shamno group set for me as far as quality wise.
I tend to be of the mindset that Centaur is above Ultegra (Ultegra SL seems to be more of a styling move for 2008, we will have to see where it goes) and just below Dura-Ace. Chorus is above Dura-Ace in feel and in construction. Dura-Ace is just now getting into carbon fiber construction and Chorus has had it for a few years already. Record is the class of the world in gruppo components. I am not putting Dura-Ace or Shimano down. They are great equipment. Let's not leave SRAM Red out either.
There just is no equal to Camapagnolo.
