Looking for a nice road bike but don't want to break the bank? Turn to the GMC Denali Pro road bike, the little brother to the popular Denali LTD. Built with the same pride and attention to detail as GMC trucks, the Denali Pro features a high-quality, handcrafted, lightweight 22-inch aluminum frame that delivers a stiff, responsive ride. The 16-speed Microshift drivetrain, meanwhile, is equipped with integrated brake/shift levers, so you can both brake and shift without moving your hands from the handlebar. And thanks to the dual-pivot brake system, the bike stops on a dime should the terrain get rough. Other features include aluminum rims with stainless-steel spokes, 700c x 25 tires, an alloy crank, and a steel fork. The recommended height range of the Denali Pro is 5' 9" to 6' 1", and the standover height is 31.5 inches. Amazon.com Bicycle Buying Guide Finding the Right Bike To really enjoy cycling, it's important to find a bicycle that works for you. Here are some things to keep in mind when you're in the market for a new bike: The Right Ride In general, bikes are broken down into three major categories: Road and Racing Bikes--As a general rule, road and racing are built for speed and longer distances on paved surfaces. Thinner tires, lightweight 29-inch (700c) wheels, and drop bars that allow for a more aerodynamic position are the norm. Most road bikes, regardless of price, offer many gears for tackling both hilly and flat terrain. Mountain Bikes--With their larger tires, hill-friendly gearing, and upright position, mountain bikes are very popular for all types of riding, both on pavement and off. Mountain bikes that are designed specifically for rugged trail use typically feature a suspension fork. Some may have rear suspension, as well. A quick change of the tires on any mountain bike--even one that you use regularly on trails--adds to its versatility and makes it a worthy street machine. Comfort/Cruiser Bikes--For tooling around on bike paths, light trails, or for cruising a quiet beach-side lane, comfort/cruiser bikes are the ticket. With a super-relaxed riding position, padded seats, and limited or no gearing, these bikes are made for enjoying the scenery and having fun with the family. The Right Price A bike's price boils down to three essentials: frame materials, bike weight, and component quality and durability. Entry-level--You'll find a wide range of comfort and cruiser bikes in this category, as well as some lower-end mountain bikes and road bikes. Most will have steel frames and components that are designed to last for several years with frequent use. Mid-range--Bikes in this range may feature a lighter aluminum frame with mid-range components that keep performing after miles of use. If you're looking for a quality bike that is relatively lightweight and will stand up to abuse, this is the "sweet spot." Most serious commuter and touring bikes fall into this category, as do mid-range mountain bikes with a decent front suspension. High-end--Racers and serious enthusiasts who expect lightweight, high-performance components will want to stick to this category. For road bikes, exotic frame materials (carbon fiber, titanium) and ultralightweight components can add thousands to the price tag. Mountain bikes in this class often feature advanced front and rear suspension technology, as well as components designed to handle lots of rugged trail action. The Right Size Fit is crucial for comfort, control, and proper power and endurance on a bike. Here are some basic bike fit tips: Stand-over Height--To find out if a bike's overall height fits your body, measure your inseam. Next, determine how much clearance you'll need between your crotch and the top tube of the bike. For a mountain bike, you'll want three to five inches of clearance. A road bike should offer between one and two inches of clearance, while a commuter bike should have two to four inches. Compare the stand-over height for a given bike to your measurements (inseam + clearance) to determine the right bike height. Top Tube Length--You can measure your torso to get a good estimate of proper top tube length. First, make a fist and extend your arm. Measure from the center of your fist to the end of your collarbone (the part that intersects your shoulder). Next, measure your torso by placing a book against your crotch with the spine facing up. Measure from the spine to the bottom of your throat (the spot between your collarbones). Finally, add the two measurements (arm length + torso length), divide the number in half, and subtract six inches. This is your approximate top tube length. Compare this number to a bike's posted top tube length. You can allow for about two inches longer or shorter, as most bikes can be adjusted via stem length/height and saddle fore/aft position to make fine adjustments to the fit. Bikes for Women--Proportionally, women tend to have a shorter torso and longer legs than men. Bike makers design women's bikes that offer a shorter top tube and many comfort/cruiser bikes built for women may also provide more stand-over clearance. The Right Accessories When you make a bike purchase, don't forget these crucial add-ons: Helmet (this is a must!) Seat pack Lock Hydration pack, or water bottle and bottle cage Spare tubes Portable bike pump Gloves The Denali PRO Road Bike from GMC delivers higher performance at a lower price. At the heart of the Denali PRO, youll find a high quality, hand-crafted lightweight aluminum frame for a stiff, responsive ride. The 16 speed drivetrain is equipped with integrated Brake/Shift levers so that you can brake and shift without moving your hands from the handlebar. Dual pivot alloy brakes ensure that you stop on a dime, while lightweight 700c aluminum rims further enhance the dynamic feel of this outstanding bicycle. This attractive road bike offers safety, security and power in one, lightweight package. |

Featured Article:

In the last issue of EDM, you may recall, we tested the 2007 RMZ RC Replica from Suzuki. At the conclusion of the test, Suzuki gave us the option of returning it or purchasing it from them. After about a second of deliberation, we jumped at the opportunity. We are always looking for bikes to use as project bike and the RMZ is a great foundation. While we loved the look of the RC Replica, we felt the Zook would benefit from a little personalization, a face lift if you will. We gave ourselves a budget of $1,000.00 and sat down to make a list of the things we'd change cosmetically. Overall the stock motor is good, so making changes to it wasn't something we felt necessary. Besides, we wanted to try and stick to the budget and getting into a motor can get costly quickly.
At the top of our list was a graphics kit. Getting away from the RC replica look was top priority. A trip to the Powersport Grafx website to select an appropriate kit got the juices flowing. The guys there are great and extremely helpful. We were able to take a standard template they have and modify it to fit our needs which included removing some colors and adding the Carbon Raptor and EDM logos. If you have sponsors that you want to add to you graphics kit, they have most major companies' logos on file and you can place them wherever you like. We used our new kit for our latest Tech Tip. Lesley, one of the EDM shop girls installed the graphics for us. Click HERE to see her in action.
Next on the list was plastic. Even though the stock plastic was still new, we decided to go white since black has been done. Our stock plastic kit already had white side panels, number plate and fork guards so all we needed was a shroud set and front and rear fenders. A phone call to the folks over at UFO Plastics got us going with what we needed. We used their plastic kit for the KX rebuild story and were really impressed by the quality of their replacement plastic. Once again, we made the right choice. All the fittings and holes lined up perfectly. With all white plastic on our project bike, the stock yellow tank was looking like a sore thumb. There are several solutions when it comes to a replacement tank. Looking for the best one, we turned to Clarke Manufacturing for a stock capacity, white replacement.
The stock mounting hardware and petcock is removed from your old tank and used on the replacement. It mounts easily and seals perfectly, the shrouds lined up and attached without difficulty to the Clarke unit. Our intention was to stop with the cosmetic changes but since we only spent $600 of our budgeted $1000 we thought it might be nice to add a few personal touches. Those things that truly make a bike yours. Some people call it bling, we call it customizing. We started with an AV One handlebar in the CR High bend from SUNLINE complete with a dual compound grip set. The bar has a vibration damping system inside that works quite well and if you haven't tried the grips you are missing out on a great thing.
Nothing says "this is my bike" more than the way a rider sets up his/her controls. Just jump on your pals bike to see how different it feels from yours. Chances are the levers are in different position. The brake pedal and shifter are at different heights than where you like them and so on. Aftermarket levers allow you to take this one step further. We finished off the handle bar area with a set of C/5 series levers from ASV Inventions. These levers can be adjusted to fit practically any hand size enabling greater comfort and less fatigue. It is our humble opinion that are the best levers on the market and if your want your hand controls to be exactly where you want them to be, they are a must have.
With all of these additions we have spent just under what we had in our budget. But there were a few other things we felt the RMZ would benefit from having. During our initial test we noted that the front brake was good but not great. And since there is nothing better than a bike that stops on a dime we couldn't resist going to Galfer to get one of their oversized rotors. It's a piece of cake to install and it makes a huge difference. A few splashes of color was about all that was missing so we replaced the stock brake reservoir covers and engine plugs with red units from Works Connection The stock plastic rear disk guard had to go and was replaced with a black aluminum unit from Pro Moto Billet. All told we spent $1,400 for some serious upgrades and a bike that doesn't look like any other out there. Check the link below for the story with images.

2007 Lamborghini Murcielago Review
A century-old tradition in bullfighting is to spare the life of a bull which shows outstanding courage in the arena. Such a bull was Murcielago, The Bat, spared by a famous matador after a breathtaking fight in the arena of Cordoba, some 130 years ago.
Much like the bull that gave it its name, the Lamborghini Murcielago belongs to a special breed of cars. With its 6,5 liter V12 engine, 640 BHP, an amazing 665 Nm torque and permanent 4-wheel drive, nothing can stand in it's way. 3,4 seconds is all it needs to get to 100 km/h, and if you keep your foot on the gas pedal, it will not stop until you reach a mind-blowing 340 km/h.
But this power comes at a price. The massive 12-cylinder engine requires an average of 21,3 l/100 km, and the car's fuel tank can carry (only!) 100 liters.
This 2-door, 2 seats coupe with a mid-mounted engine follows the traditional design successfully applied by Lamborghini for more than three decades. The gear box placed in front of the engine, the permanent four-wheel drive, along with the integration into the engine unit of the rear differential, are but a few of the advantages of such a displacement which result in an optimal weight distribution, 58% rear and 42% front, with positive effects on the car's handling, braking and traction.
The security of the car is ensured by the carbon fiber body, with steel doors and roof, and a tubular frame made from high-strength steel alloy with carbon fiber structural parts. The stopping power is ensured by power vacuum, aluminum alloy calipers (8 pistons front calipers and 4-pistons rear calipers), ventilated discs, and optional carbon-ceramic brakes, with 6 pistons break calipers (front-rear).
The interior aims for functionality, and lacks any useless or distracting elements. The optional equipment includes an "Interior Carbon Package", where the cover for the driver side display, dashboard cover, handbrake lever, armrest frame, gear lever cover, the air conditioning and radio covers are made entirely from carbon fibre, offering those really demanding customers an extra air of class.
Unlike the older models, the Murcielago brings a touch of practicality through it's design, which allows for more control over the car; however, the rear visibility remains poor.
Its name refers to a bull and a bat, but the Murcielago encompasses their features and beyond; the interior is reasonably comfortable for an exotic car, capable of going 300+ km/h. Used to its full potential, this car can provide one of the most thrilling sensations a driver will ever experience.
Its unique design ensures that it will stay in vogue for a long time. It is precisely the type of car which will keep Lamborghini among the world's top manufacturers, in showrooms, publications and, best of all, in the hearts of the customers.

BIANCHI VIA NIRONE7 Road Bike?
Been thinking about buying Bianchi Via NIRONE7 Carbon Tiagra BIKE (2008), really need some opinions and advice. I would be paying $895; however, after tax and shipping the total for the bike will be about $1,013.00
I want to stay around that price but who knows, I'm a newer rider and ride 30-50 mile rides about 4 times a week. I have recently been liking the look of Bianchi bikes. Give me some advice! Thanks! Here's more info on the bike....
Via Nirone Aluminum / carbon mix frame
Bianchi FL5 K-Vid Carbon-Alu fork
Shimano Tiagra front and rear dearailleur
Shimano Tiagra brake/shift levers
Joytech front and rear hubs laced to Rigida Flyer rims
Michelin Dynamic tires
Look KEO Easy pedals
That seems like a nice price for what you are getting, especially with pedals included. I have a Bianchi Carbon T-Cube. I love it! I always opt for campy instead of Shimano, but that is just a personal thing, something in my head says an Italian bike ought to have Italian made components. I will tell you that at 100-200 miles a week you might want to pony up for the 928 C2C which is the all carbon version of what you are looking at. Nothing wrong with the Via Nirone, you will really like it. You won't, however, have the same kind of love affair with it that you would with a full carbon machine.
