EBC Brakes FA185X Carbon Graphite Disc Brake Pad List Price: $31.49 Sale Price: $29.92 |
|
EBC "X" series brake pads have been the choice of Top Enduro and Hare Scrambles riders, who prefer the "X" series pads for fast and dry riding conditions. The main advantage of this carbon graphite pad is its lack of heat generation or conduction, which keeps both the rotor and caliper cool. The softer carbon graphite formula has Kevlar fibers, is less aggressive to rotors and runs cooler than sintered metal pads. Great for larger and heavier Enduro motorcycles and dual purpose bikes. It will last longer than the Non-Asbestos Organic DMX formula pads on dual purpose motorcycles. |

If you like to cycle in the great outdoors you might be considering purchasing a mountain bike. But what kind of bike do you need? You can work out your requirements by asking yourself some questions, like these:
Q. What kind of biking am I going to do?
A. This is probably the best question to start out with. You'll have to think about what terrain you will be riding on most of the time and in what conditions. If you ride on rocky terrain, for example, you might not want a hardtail mountain bike (without rear suspension).
Q. If you are upgrading from an older mountain bike, did it fit your needs?
A. Your older bike might not have handled downhill riding as well as you would have liked. Perhaps you need a high-quality, disc-brake system on your new bike? You will have to search for a bike with all the features you'll need.
Q. Do you want a cross-country mountain bike?
A. In essence, cross-country mountain bikes are designed for trails. They are not designed, for example, for terrain where there might be a lot of rocks or debris in your way. This type of bike can be lightweight and diverse for multi-terrain riders. Additionally, you can choose a freeride mountain bike (a mix of downhill and cross- country models) or even a dirt-jump mountain bike (with greater suspension).
Q. Is weight an issue?
A. Some bikers want a very light bike. Different types of bikes weigh more according to what they will be used for. Cross-country mountain bikes are often the lightest type, while downhill bikes can weigh much more.
Q. What is your budget?
A. Bikes range from the department store model which is very affordable up to the specialist bike which can cost as much as a new car.
Now consider these mountain bike essentials in light of the needs you've discovered:
Types - Cross country, hard tail, full suspension, downhill, dirt jump and enduro mountain bikes; tailor your choice to your individual preferences.
Assembly - Bikes may be purchased fully assembled or as a bare frame to which you can add individual hand-picked components.
Brakes - The basic brake is a pull V-brake or cantilever. Disc brakes are a good choice for muddy or hilly conditions and rim or calliper brakes are found only on very basic, inexpensive bikes.
Frame - Steel, carbon fibre, alloy. Steel frames are inexpensive and durable but also heavy, and require more riding effort.
If you want to ride on paths or roads you may need a little more versatility in your mountain bike. As weight may not be an issue because you are not competing or tackling muddy hill paths, an enduro mountain bike might do the trick. It doesn't weigh as much as a downhill mountain bike, but it will still allow you to bike on different types of terrain.
Tip: The different types of mountain bikes feel and handle very differently. Make sure you try out several different models.

Ensure your Safety With Gm Seat Belt and Gm Brake Dust Shield
There's nothing more important than safety on the road on one's GM vehicle. To assure this, certain GM parts need to be given the best care in order to function at their best.
The main function of the brake system is to deliver needed safety while driving on the road. With such vital role comes the responsibility of extending life and ensuring its maximum performance. One such way to do that is using a GM brake dust shield.
Every time one steps on the brakes pedal, brake dust accumulate to form a black grime made of metal filings, carbon, and other ingredients. This is a corrosive by-product that, if not properly prevented, will become acidic and will definitely destroy the finish and cause pits that can weaken the wheel. A GM brake dust shield's main function is to act as a protective cover in order to minimize wear and tear. It does this dust by preventing the brake dust from making it to the rim or mags on the wheels and preventing by catches all the brake dust blown from the brake disc before they reach the rims. A typical GM brake dust shield is made of aluminum plates that are custom molded to specific vehicle brake system applications. Since it is located between the rim and brake discs of a car right above the wheel, this makes it easer for a more effective shielding and collection of debris. Moreover, GM brake dust shields do not interfere with the braking system and will not affect the braking systems' cooling or overheating.
The GM seatbelt is another GM part that contributes to road safety. A GM seat belt is a harness designed to hold in place the occupant of a car or other vehicle against harmful movement that may result from a collision or a sudden stop. As part of an overall occupant restraint system, seat belts are intended to reduce injuries by stopping the wearer from hitting hard interior elements of the vehicle or other passengers and by preventing the wearer from being thrown from the vehicle.
A typical GM seatbelt consists of a lap belt, which rests over your pelvis, and a shoulder belt, which extends across your chest. The two belt sections are tightly secured to the frame of the car in order to hold passengers in their seats. For more safety, seatbelt design continues to be improved. Energy-absorbing fibers, seat belt tensioners, and height adjusters are already available to make seat belts safer and more comfortable.

What fork should i get for my bike?
I'm looking for a good carbon fiber bike that can accommodate Avid disk brakes. In case you are wondering the bike is the Novara Buzz Road. Any suggestions?
My price range goes up to about $250, but anything cheaper would of course be welcome.
Get a good Cro-Moly Fork.
Carbon Fiber forks haven't been perfected yet, and they can fail disasterously.
I work with composites, and I built a fiberglass bike (before building a carbon fiber bike) and I use a cro-moly fork.
heres a picture, the bike is fiberglass , but the fork is cro-moly:

Okay, it's a semi-recumbent, but knowing what I know, I wouldn't use a composite fork, unless the blades were BIG in diameter, and it would look too ridiculous. (like if the blades of the fork were three inches in diameter- might as well install fenderskirts.)
Kawasaki gives us a first taste of the new KX.
Kawasaki rolled out the red carpet for its 2011 KX450F and gave the moto media its first chance to spin a few laps on the bike at Racetown 395 in the high desert of southern California, and we came away impressed with the bike, which was hardly a surprise.
Thanks for visiting!
