Plasma Screen Technology has Changed and Improved
Plasma HDTV technology has experienced a huge improvement in the last five years or so. Where as most Plasma screen displays were expensive and temperamental pieces of equipment easily susceptible to burn in, or dead screen pixels plasma HDTVs have finally become robust enough to be worth the money that you might spend on one. Where LCD was once king of the HDTV hill, plasma screen displays are making a modest comeback when it comes to return on investment. For almost 3 years now HDTV manufactures of plasma displays have worked out the problems that plagued earlier plasma screens.
Myth 1: Plasma screens are easily susceptible to burn in.
One of the constant myths that I hear people talking about with regards to Plasma HDTV's is that they are quick to suffer from burn in. It is true that burn in used to be a problem with older plasma screen displays. However the technology used to manufacture these HDTV's has improved to the point to where you would be required to adjust the settings of your TV and crank some serious brightness through the pixel cells to actually burn an image into your screen. A more common issue mistaken for burn in is "image retention" which usually disappears after a few moments.
Myth 2: Plasmas have a short life span.
Another common misconception about plasmas is that their ability to produce bright imagery degrades quickly. This is simply not true. Plasma HDTV's today have an average half life of about 70,000 hours of viewing time. Half life refers to how long a plasma display would have to be on for its pixels to become half as bright as when the television rolled off the assembly line. This equates to someone leaving their Plasma HDTV on for 8 years without ever turning it off.
Myth 3: Plasmas suffer from screen glare and reflection.
One of the biggest complaints about plasmas that I have received lately is that they suffer from glare in brightly lit rooms. At a point in time this was a valid complaint. On one of my older plasma screen televisions I could actually see my reflection when watching my favorite programs on the weekends during the day. I'm happy to announce that many manufacturers have taken this criticism to heart and begun to apply glare resistant coatings to the glass which makes up the outer part of the display screen. This greatly reduces the amount of glare that you'll experience from light sources in your viewing room.
Bottom Line
Plasma screen HDTV's have come a long way since the early days when many of these myths had a ring of truth to them. Often what happens is a buyer will be working with a salesman who either has bad information or wants to bump their commission by steering the buyer to a more expensive technology. There are considerably more myths out there regarding plasma HDTVs and before you take something as truth, be sure to take the time and do the necessary research.

Spring Tune Up Tips
Before you take your bike out, check the wear and tear on your components and adjust them if its necessary. Start off with your chain. If you haven't replaced it in a year or more, it's timeto do so. Over time, the individual parts in thechain will get worn out, increasing its effective length.
As this happens, the chain is no longer able to conform to the cog and the teeth of the chain ring, so it wears those teeth out to fit the profile of the chain. If you can replace the chain before it stretches too much you'll save yourself from havingto replace high priced cogs and chain rings.
Now, check the bearing surfaces. These include your bottom bracket, hubs, and the headset. Each of these should turn without a problem with no play in the
system. Before checking the bottom bracket, make sure each cranking arm is snugged tight. Next, hold on to the crank arm (not the pedal) and wobble it
back and forth. If you hear any clicking or if the crank arm binds, the bottom bracket needs to be adjusted.
Do the exact same thing with your hubs. Take the wheels off the bike, spin the hub axles, then feel for any free play or binding. If you feel play or binding, you need to make an adjustment. To check the headset, start off by putting the newly adjusted
wheels back on the bike.
Now, grab the front brake and pull and push the handle bars back and forth. There shouldn't be any play. If you lift the front end off the ground, the fork should turn very smoothly. If it feels rough, it needs to be either adjusted or replaced.
While your looking, check the condition of your cables and housing. The cables should be rust free and the housing shouldn't be cracked or kinked. If you see any
of this you should replace the offending device, as if you don't your shifting and braking will be sluggish.
Last, you should inspect your brake pads. Most pads will have ridges or indicator marks that will let you know when they need to be replaced. Brake pads that
are worn out will comprimise both safety and braking efficiency.
Once you've got the tune ups out of the way, it's time to go for a ride. With your mountain bike running better than ever, all you have to do now is have fun!

how can i figure out the size of a bottom bracket on a bmx bike?
The bike is a 20 inch frame. BMX bike made by s and m but they don't carry the cranks anymore that i need. I need to find out the size for the cranks because i can't fix the crank i need to get new ones because it comes loose and i can't tighten it.
