All cars come standard with braking systems in order to slow down or stop the cars from moving. The force applied by the foot on the brake pedal is multiplied many times greater to the car brakes to slow down or stop the car in two ways that is via mechanical advantage or via hydraulic force multiplication.
What if one day when you are stopping your car, you notice that the car operates as if you are pressing and then releasing the brake and you feel that the brake pedal is pushing back your foot.
The main reason that can cause this problem is that the disc brake rotor has already gone out of shape or also known as warped disc brake rotors due to sudden cooling of the rotors, accumulation of resin from the interior of the brake pads, over tightening of the lug nuts and also abuse of the brakes.
Normally, this problem can be solved by cutting the rotor but please be informed that not all brake rotors can be safely cut especially the vented disc brake rotors because there are limitations on the amount of metal that can be removed from the brake rotor or the brake drum.
You can determine by yourself whether your car has warped disc brake rotors by firstly depressing the brake pedal slowly at ten miles per hour on a deserted street. Then continue again a little faster. If the brake system is in normal condition, you can feel that the pressure is even on the brake pedal.
Actually you can feel the brake pedal moving under your foot if the brake pedal pulses. You can feel the pulsation even more if you drive faster and you can even feel the vibration through the steering wheel in severe cases. This problem normally can be solved by cutting the brake rotors or just simply replace the brake rotors.
Cars that come with drums can also have this problem. Not all cars have disc brakes all around because some cars are fitted with brake drums at the rear. If the drum is not perfectly round in shape and instead it is oval, the brake pedal can also pulse. This problem can also be solved by cutting the brake drums or simply replaced with new brake drums.
Please be aware and ensure that the cutting of the rotors and the replacement of the rotors should be done by an experience automobile mechanic.

Brake pad replacement: Should You Do it Yourself?
Some people say you don’t need to go to an auto service garage for brake pad replacement. True, this kind of service can be costly for some people and would rather do it themselves. If you have no choice but to do brake pad replacement yourself, here’s how:
The first thing you need to do before you get into the actual brake pad replacement is to prepare all the tools. You will need a lug wrench, c-clamp, open end or adjustable wrench (depending on your car), Allen wrenches (depending on your car), hammer and a small bungee cord. The task involves taking the wheel off so your car needs to be jacked up resting on jack stands.
You can break the lugs before you lift the vehicle. It is after all, safer to work with the wheels on the ground. You should also consider looking for additional support aside from the jacks. You never know when accidents happen. Check if your brake discs are in top shape.
It is easier to remove the lugs from bottom up. This way the wheel doesn’t move around while you are working on the nuts. And, when you are done with it, it’s a lot easier to catch the wheel. You can use the stuck wheel trick if the wheel won’t budge after removing the lugs.
The actual brake pad replacement requires you to remove the brake caliper to let the pads slide out through the top. However, there are cars whose pads can be taken out without touching the caliper. The brake caliper is in the 12 o'clock position just above the lug bolts, riding atop the shiny brake disc. At the back of the caliper you will see two bolts which could be hex or Allen; remove them but don’t lose them.
Get the caliper out of the way by taking your bungee cord, hanging the caliper from something, like the giant coil spring. Make sure that the caliper doesn’t hang by the brake line, because it can cause damage and lead to brake failure. Before you take the old brake pads out, take a picture of the entire assembly so you know exactly what goes where.
Your car can have little metal tabs holding onto the brake pads. Again put them to the side but don’t lose them. Put the new pads in the slots with any metal clips you removed. The last thing you should do is to adjust the piston that it accommodates the new pads. Do this using a c-clamp against the piston with the other end of the clamp around on the back of the caliper assembly. Tighten the clamp until the piston has moved far enough in that you can easily plop the caliper assembly over the new pads. For more information visit to our site at http://mikesmastermechanics.com/

Normal routine items that wear out after 100,000 miles. I installed Power-slot rotors, Hawk Pads, and Edelbrock IAS shocks, 10mm Magnacore spark plug wires, cap and rotor. All mechanical systems have performed well and are still very healthy.
