The Ford Special Vehicle's Team (SVT) wanted to take their already popular sub-compact Focus and stuff just a little more performance into it to offer United States and Canadian customers a more powerful European style version of the vehicle. The SVT group worked very hard into late 2001 to prepare the even sportier SVT model to make ready for the 2002 market. Noticeable difference in the SVT Focus exterior included newly upgraded stylish bumpers, both front and rear, sleek looking side skirts, powerful factory fog lamps, and 17" alloy wheels. Also included in the Focus SVT body modifications, a rear diffuser to improve performance and handling.
Speaking of performance, the SVT Focus proudly sported a beefed up version of the 2.0 liter Zetec engine. Unlike the Zetec motors found in many other Focus models, this Cosworth modified engine featured performance modified aluminum cylinder heads, performance pistons, dual stage intake manifold, and a 4-2-1 tubular exhaust header increasing horsepower from 130 to 170 making for the most powerful factory produced Focus, SVT or any other model, as of to date.
The SVT Focus comes equipped with a Getrag high performance six-speed manual transmission and a dual mass flywheel to eliminate vibration and noise. The SVT Focus did however keep the same wheelbase as the Focus ZX3, but SVT steering was greatly improved through an increased boost ratio in the steering rack and the independent suspension stiffened it's springs 10% in the front and 20% in the rear along with larger sway bars to adjust for more aggressive handling and race-like cornering. Not to mention, four wheel anti-lock big disc brakes with 11.8 inch vented rotors mounted behind 17 inch wheels sporting 215/45ZR17 high performance Continental treads to truly set off the SVT Focus.
Looking inside, the Focus SVT interior features bucket leather seats, steering wheel, shift knob and boot as well as emergency-brake handle and boot. Titanium faced electro-luminescent gauges and race like pedals. Options for the Focus SVT included a power glass sunroof, a cold weather package with heated seats, Audiophile eight (8) speaker sound system with 8" sub-woofer, a 115 Volt block heater, heated side mirrors, traction control and, for 2003 and 2004 models, HID xenon headlamps.
As awesome of a ride the SVT Focus may be, many like those of us at FocusFreaks still feel the driving force to push the issue. People still want the newest body kit or side skirts or spoiler or whatever to assure their Focus is the coolest looking ride in the neighborhood. Extreme Dimensions Inc. has been playing a big role in the manufacturing of these sought after SVT Focus exterior upgrade products since 2000. Extreme Dimensions Inc. is a world renowned automotive aerodynamic company with it's main headquarters located in Southern California in a 50,000 square foot distribution center. Being one of the largest manufacturers of after market body kits and exterior parts for the SVT Focus is what gives Extreme Dimensions the ability to come up with so many exciting and unique designs on bumpers, side skirts, spoilers, and all kinds of body parts providing inexpensive upgrades for the SVT Focus. Now you know where to go for your SVT Focus automotive needs, both appearance and performance.

Brake Safety. Some Warning Signs 2
A lot of cars have been involved in accidents because of brake failures, one leading indicator is the feel of the brake pedal, so if your car pulls left or right when braking, or if the front end shakes, then these are definite signs of excessive brake wear. If the brake pedal in your automobile begins to feel spongy, it could be a sign that air has entered the brake system or fluid is low. Do not ignore these warning signs!
A spongy brake pedal, together with a decrease in brake fluid, may also indicate brake wear, so when you check the brake fluid reservoir, make sure it's topped off. If not, then brake fluid is most probably remaining at the wheel to fill the space caused by wear. Most vehicles purchased from car auctions experience this kind of problems because of being stocked for a long time in car garage or showrooms. Simply replacing the brake fluid and letting it flow throughout the wheel by pumping the brake pedal a few times before your run the used automobile helps in ensuring safety for you and your passengers.
Many new cars have ABS (Automatic Braking System) which initiates a rapid- fire pumping sequence to the brakes, keeping the car straight during sudden or hard braking. If the ABS light illuminates on your instrument panel, then it's likely that the wheel sensors have detected excessive build-up of metal particles from the brake system. Most cars are designed to shut down the ABS when excessive particle build-up occurs, but a shutdown ABS does not prevent you from stopping, it just means that the ABS feature isn't working. Most used cars don't have ABS installed with them and safe driving and proper brake maintenance is adviced to avoid accidents.
Wheels should be pulled and brakes checked once a year by an experienced brake specialist. You must take care when deciding on a brake technician because you must be certain of their expertise. At rdabrakes.com.au, who is the largest supplier of disc brake rotors and brake drums for cars in Australia and New Zealand, they have experts who can fit your vehicle with high quality, high performance braking components. Whether it's used car or not.
It's not uncommon to replace brakes after 20,000-30,000 kilometres. An inspection typically includes the rotors, calipers, drums, pads, pistons and brake lines. Brake systems should be flushed and brake fluid replaced every two years. By doing your online search at OzFreeOnline.com for technicians available to do the job, you will source just the right company who can provide superior service, safety and peace of mind.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture in the system and becomes acidic after two years or 35,000 kilometres. Check your owner's manual or ask your technician to see what kind of brakes your car has and how they are adjusted. For example, most drum brakes are self-adjusting by backing up or engaging the emergency brake.
Check out the used car values of second hand cars or see the availability of ABS for brand new cars if your planning to buy a new car. You can also request for the cars history, when you buy used cars, and trace whether the vehicle had some problems with its brakes.
Regardless of care, brakes should most likely be replaced every 40,000- 50,000 kilometres, but of course, how and where you drive will greatly influence when your brakes must be replaced.

Is it better to buy it online. Where have you bought (please post any weblinks)
Technically when a micrometer measurement of the rotor thickness falls below the specified safe minimum marked on the rotor and published for your car. In practice, if you have any brake pedal pulsation when braking or the rotor surface needs machining, the rotors should be turned down while mounted on the car with a special brake lathe machine. When the thickness of the rotors is marginal (like yours probably are from 6 years of wear), it's usually cheaper just to install a new set of rotors on your next brake job. Then you'll have all around better braking too. You might consider a "slotted" brake rotor and ceramic pad replacement which offer some advantages and are readily available now for cars.

Superbrakes for civilians? Cost is the obstacle
For more than 30 years, Formula One racecars have benefited from powerful brakes that vastly outperform the systems available on any showroom model. The gap may be narrowing, though: High-tech materials similar to those on the racetrack began showing up in exotic sports cars about 10 years ago, and some luxury models now offer them as well.
