Engines and Frames
Bicycle companies put a new invention, the internal combustion engine, onto their bicycles.
When new engines became more powerful the standard bicycle frames, wheels and chains could not handle them.
Bicycle builders decided to make frames made of steel. The steel frames did the job much as they do today.
Most Popular Motobikes
Before First World War, the largest motorcycle company in the world was Indian Motors. They produced 20,000 motorbikes a year.
By 1920, Harley-Davidson sold more street bikes in more than 67 countries.
Today, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha are the most popular with enthusiasts. Harley-Davidson is still a driving force in the United States.
BMW, KTM, Triumph, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Ducati are also popular new street rides to buy...
Parts
Coloring pages kids, a steel or aluminum frame holds modern motorcycle parts and accessories.
Telescopic forks hold the front wheel, and disc brakes. Expect a one-cylinder to six-cylinder gasoline powered engine.
The engine is coupled to a manual, five- or six-speed sequential transmission with a swing arm-mounted rear wheel by a chain, drive shaft or belt.
A wind tunnel helps the engineers mimic real-life riding conditions. Different racing speeds test seating and body positions.
Experts can judge the best riding positions for racing bikes, off-road motorbikes and street cycles...
Accessories and Gear
Designed for comfort are various modern motorcycle attachments:
A "Fairing" is a plastic or fiberglass shell. It fits over the front frame of the bike. A fairing helps move the cycle smoothly and protects the engine in an accident. Fairings on touring rides improve your comfort and alertness on long rides. They reduce the harsh wind, cold and rain on your body...
"Windshields or windscreens" are built into a fairing or be attached to an unfaired motorbike. They are of transparent high-impact plastic. They direct airflow over or around your head. If you would like to raise and lower the windscreen with the push of a button, get an electric windscreen.
"Saddlebags or Panniers" rest on either side of the rear wheel to carry parts, tools, and, or travel gear.
"Heated Hand grips and Heated Seats" keep you warm in the cold and during night rides.
"Luggage Racks" remove the need for backpacks. They are a more secure and safe way to add carrying capacity to your rocket cycle...
A "Sidecar" is a one-wheeled partially covered seat. The sidecar attaches to the side of your motorcycle. Your big sister can sit in it and ride with you. Just remember to bring her back.
A "Trunk" is a storage box. Above and behind the seat the trunk is mounted...
Motorcycle Clubs
Clubs and organizations are popular. You can meet new rider kids, their buddies and their families.
The clubs are organized according countries, states, cities and neighborhoods. Individual motor bike makes or motorbike models have fan clubs.
You can join, if you qualify, groups like the American Motorcyclist Association, Harley Owners Group, Moto Guzzi National Owners Club, and Gold Wing Road Riders...

Mountain Bike Wheels
A mountain bicycle wheel is typically made of a specially-designed wire spoke system that allows for lightweight sturdiness, developed to give ideal performance even under oppressive terrains and numerous riding conditions. These wheels are integrated into the mountain bike with dropouts which are held by the bike fork and bike frame.
People who wish to start trail biking might be beaten by the options available to them, vis what accessories to buy, and just as significantly, what types of parts to use for one's trail bike. Mountain bike wheels provide a good mixture of traction, stability, and sturdiness ; and different riding conditions need specific types of mountain bicycle wheels. Here are some of the more popular mountain bike wheels now available [*CO].
29-inch Wheels
29-inch mountain bike wheels are based on the widespread 622 millimeter standard. These types of wheels are becoming more popular for cross-country and cyclocross mountain bicycles, ordinarily employed by bigger riders. The 29-inch measurement pertains to the diameter of the wheels, which are close in structure to the 700C hybrid, road, and touring wheels ; though the 29-inchers are structurally reinforced for better sturdiness for off-road terrain riding. The usual 29-incher, along with the rubber tire itself, will have a total diameter of 724 millimeters or twenty-eight half inches.
26-inch Wheels
Clincher tires of the 26-inch size have inner tubes. These 26-inchers are the most typical choice of wheels for off-road mountain bikes. The wheel structure was based on evolved trail bike wheels, which earlier riders took from off-road bikes of Yankee make. 26-inch bike wheels usually have rims that are 22 inches or 559 millimeters in diameter, and make a total diameter of 665 millimeters or 26.2 inches with the tire attached.
Current tubeless 26-inch wheels are slowly penetrating the market. These new tires conform to the Universal System Tubeless, or UST standards, set by French wheel maker Mavic, together with tire firms Michelin and Hutchison. As no more inner tubes are utilized in the tires of these bike wheels, the rider can enjoy more traction and shock assimilation, as lower tire pressure will no longer result in punctures or terraces to the inner tube.
Conversion kits are available now to turn non-UST wheels into tubeless wheels, using a special tape to close off any holes in wheels with standard rims, and injecting a liquid rubber compound prior to increasing the tire. UST kits can also improve sturdiness of UST wheels with added sealing capacity in case of any punctures.
BMX Wheels
BMX wheels are mountain bike wheels with the smallest diameters. These are made for smaller and younger bicyclists, who are afforded better sturdiness at relatively lower costs. The size can also resist heavier loads and stress due to bike stunts, and reduce rotational force for quicker acceleration.

can someone help me with a centripetal force diagram?
I have a tecaher who is supposed to be retired and has lost interest in his class. okay...A boy riding a bike leans into the corner, using a suitable diagram explain why he does this.
I know theres gravity down and the oposing force, then the horizontal component which supplies centripetal acceleration, and the aciuon and reaction of the road but im still stuck as to the purpose of leaning because it seems that all the forces are cancelled out. Please help
That's a nasty question to set you, because you can't actually draw a diagram showing all the force arrows cancelling each other out. This is because centripetal force, strictly speaking, acts TOWARDS THE CENTRE of rotation. Thus, if you draw all the force arrows, you'll have an imbalance, pushing the cyclist over, so if anything, it looks like he should lean the other way. BUT this is because a force diagram, inevitably represents a static system, but you are supposed to be representing a dynamic system, which in this case behaves very differently.
Okay, if you want to draw a diagram that has any meaning, you will have to invoke the imaginary concept of CENTRIFUGE. This you could represent as an arrow acting straight outwards from the effective axis of rotation of the arc the cyclist makes as he goes round the corner. You can use this force arrow to balance the other ones, BUT if you do that, you must emphasise that 'centrifugal force is a fiction, employed to represent the dynamic effect of centripetal acceleration, which cannot be meaningfully portrayed in a static diagram'. Use that exact phrase if you like, just as long as you understand its meaning (since even uninterested teachers seem to take a sick pleasure in catching out their pupils).
If you use CENTRIFUGE, it has an effective magnitude of force, F = ma, where m is the mass of the cyclist, and a is centripetal acceleration = (v^2/r), where r is the cyclist's velocity, and r is the radius of the circle he is making.
So, you now have a diagram, in which the cyclist has tilted, so that gravitational force on his centre of mass effectively has a horizontal component. This will be balanced by the horizontal 'centrifugal force' arrow.
