Serious cyclists always invest in a decent pair of bicycle gloves. Fashion statements aside, the experienced cyclist will know that his or her hands will be subjected to harsh environments that will not only harm the cyclist's hands, but will also make it challenging to finish a lap.
Your Hand Are Subjected To Harsh Weather
Think about it, when you are cycling, your hands are left to grip the handlebars for a long duration of time thereby causing it to be exposed to weather elements be it the scorching sun, wet rain or icy breezes. Incidentally, a cyclist's hands are most at risk during cold weather as the hands are left stagnant while cold winds blow around it. While the hands are not dynamic during a bicycle ride, these body parts are still very important so it would be prudent to protect them with gloves.
Your Bare Hands Are Injury-Prone
When you cycle, your hands are gripping the handlebars. This constant grip is abrasive enough to cause red marks and blisters on your hands. For road bikers, you may come across road bumps and potholes that upon impact will also cause harm unto your fingers that are holding onto the handles. In both of these situations, gloves will help provide a layer of padding that will absorb the shear and impact forces that would have otherwise cause pain to the cyclist. Do note however that getting gloves with excessive padding is a bad idea! Excess padding have the potential of compressing the nerves in your hands and that could lead to carpal tunnel syndrome.
The Five Different Types of Bicycle Gloves
There are five main variations of bicycle gloves. One can opt for fingerless cycling gloves that are usually paired with drop-bar touring bikes. Windproof full-finger gloves are great in chilly weather but should not be used in the rain. For much colder weather, we recommend that you invest in winter gloves that are also waterproof. If for some reason, you feel like cycling in sub-zero temperatures, you should then opt for the classic mittens. Lobster-claw gloves are derived from mittens, and the highlight of this kind of glove is that it provides easier access to brake-levers.

Bmx Bikes
BMX Bikes are bicycles designed specially for racing on hilly and sandy tracks. Apart from racing on undulating terrains, bikers also perform tricks on flat grounds, trails and wooden ramps. Not too long ago, bikes were manufactured with an assembled frame and fork, with two wheels and a seat. BMX bicycles originated in the state of California in the late 60’s, but it was not before the beginning of 1961, that the bikes achieved popularity, and the manufacturers began to produce bicycles frequently. BMX stunts and tricks are presently extremely popular among teenagers. There is a plethora of clubs and organizations where people can come and try their hands out on the BMX bicycles and practice the skills and tricks. With these early practices, the young bikers get acquainted with the possible problems that may occur during the ramp performances.
Tricks are definitely not easy for any biker. The stunts extremely tough to perform. One should go through tough rehearsals, in order to be completely ready. Some of the challenging tricks are like standing on the front pegs, and spinning the rest of the bike around. The really skillful bikers can even summersault in air. These tricks can be gripped after a long practice session. While riding the BMX bikes, you would need ample protection. You must protect your elbows, knees and most importantly your head with the helmet. If you are interested in having a first look at the toughest BMX competitions, then the X games on various sports channels can assist you.
The main features of a BMX bike are straight tubes, gusseted frames, reinforced handlebars, powerful mag wheels, long crankarms ,steel rims and coaster brakes.
The BMX bike producers manufacture bikes with light body. The body of a BMX bike is made of aluminum or chromium and molybdenum for frames and steel for the rims. Aluminum is used also for rims, freewheels and caliper brakes. The 24-inch versions of these bikes are called ‘cruisers’. The frames on BMX bicycles are made to be very light and maneuvered accordingly, therefore, it can weather the blows while racing and jumping. Furthermore, a light bike can save your minutes, in a tight fought BMX race.
The tiers of BMX bicycles are completely different from the road bikes. They are knobby with excellent traction and power. Another aspect that distinguishes the BMX tires from the others is the construction of their wheels. The rims are of 20 inches generally, but there can be different sizes as well.
From time to time the BMX bicycles fall hard on the ground, which is why the manufacturers have introduced ‘Cro Moly’ tube sets to the bikes. A BMX bike with smaller gear set-ups minimizes the weight of the bikes by using chain rings, smaller rear drivers, and shorter length of chain. BMX bicycles sales are much higher than the other ones. Bikes can be seen with every fashionable bike rider, on sidewalks and in their natural habitat. As opposed to competing, a simple ride would be much more comfortable. While riding, however, you have to be very conscious, and should not make too much experiments with your tricks. Don not forget to wear a helmet whenever riding. The BMX bicycles are both, fashionable and powerful, providing you the ultimate passion for fashionable biking.

i just got a bmx bike and cant get a grip up the pedals to pull the back up?
help please
Its not the pedals or your feet its sort of hard to explain but if your going to lift the back end up to get it up its more of using your arms to push the bike forward while pulling up with your abs and weight shifting.
This is one of those things you can kind of get an idea but you cant do it unless you go and get on your bike and experiment with it. If however you are doing a bunnyhop its because you are not straightening your arms and pushing out with your legs when you pull up.
Since you are beggining to bmx you should probably join this website
