With Plasma and LCD TV technologies constantly changing, there seems to be a never ending debate on which technology is the best. Some points made two years ago may not be true at all today. Both Plasma and LCD TVs both have stunning picture quality and both can be mounted on the wall. In this article, I will discuss the latest pros and cons of each technology and leave it up to you to decide which choice will fit your needs the best.
Plasma TVs are often attacked for having a short lifespan. However, the latest Plasma TVs are rated for a 60,000 hour lifespan. For the average TV viewer, that is between 20 and 55 year lifespan which is about the same as LCD TVs.
Plasma TVs are known to have a better value than LCD TVs for televisions over 50 inches and can save you about 30% or more. This is a huge factor for many people looking to buy a new Flat Panel TV.
Plasmas also have better contrast ratios, black levels, and color reproduction than LCD. They also have noticeably wider viewing angles. However, LCD TVs have better brightness levels and whites which may or may not be more important to you. Manufacturers are improving the viewing angles on LCD TVs so viewing angles are not as much of a factor anymore. Usually the rule of thumb is if you are going to be viewing in a Darker room a Plasma TV will look better. If you are viewing in a room with lots of light, go with a LCD TV.
Another important factor to consider is screen Burn-In. Plasmas technology has always been faced with this problem and is the reason why many people choose LCD technology over it. LCD TVs do not have any risk of screen Burn-In. Newer plasma TVs have been able to significantly reduce the risk of burn-in, and is not much to worry about any more. However, if you play a lot of video games, or watch anything that leaves static images on the screen, LCD might be a better option for you.
The bottom line is they are both excellent choices depending on what you are using it for. If your are setting up a home theater and will only mainly be watching movies in a darker room, obviously plasma would be the better choice. However, if you are looking for an everyday TV viewing set up in your room or play a lot of video games LCD has the edge. For TVs over 50 inches, plasma is a better choice. For smaller TVs LCD is the way to go as they are becoming more and more affordable.

Xm Direct Takes Satellite Radio on the Road
XM Radio is one of the leaders in the new digital age, bringing music, news, sports, talk, entertainment, news and weather to millions of North American consumers. One of the few drawbacks to their satellite radio services has been the complication of XM satellite radio installation in the car and the expensive equipment, but that’s no longer a problem. One of the most popular new satellite radio tuners is both affordable and easy to connect to any vehicle.
One of the newest products from the most popular satellite radio service is the XM Direct, which allows consumers to use their XM satellite radio subscription in practically any vehicle. As long as a car or truck has either an aftermarket stereo system or a satellite-radio equipped OEM, it can connect with the XM Direct. The connection to a car stereo gives consumers access to numerous music channels, live concerts, sporting events, exclusive programs, and other broadcasts.
The XM Direct is actually a two-part satellite radio system comprised of a universal tuner box and a smart digital adapter. The satellite radio adaptors will work with specific aftermarket stereos or vehicle models, so they are not universal. The XM Direct satellite radio tuner may be connected to a Pioneer stereo with an adaptor meant specifically for Pioneer products, for example. The universal satellite radio tuner comes with an XM satellite radio antenna and a 23-foot micro-coax cable. This cable is long enough for SUVs, vans and trucks. The satellite radio antenna is small enough to be mounted effortlessly on a vehicle with its magnetic mounting base. The XM Direct satellite radio tuner and smart digital adapter sell together for just under $100, which is much lower than a more complicated satellite radio system. XM Direct for auto brands is available through automobile dealerships for $299 plus satellite radio installation, which many drivers may find worthwhile with heavy commutes and travel.

Dishwasher leaking - is there a DIY repair option?
My De Dietrich dishwasher (integrated full size model: VZ9999) is leaking from the bottom of its pull down door. I gave it a good clean the other day, and maybe I dislodged something. It has a rubber door seal down each vertical side of the cavity, which passes through/over a pair of small plastic L-shaped brackets - one on each side in each front corner of cavity, when it gets to the 90 degree bend at the floor of the main cavity. The rubber seal then runs along the base of the machine, close to where the door hinges, in each corner, for about 5cm. I'd used an ordinary washing-up brush to dislodge accumulated crud and food particles from the area under the rubber seal where it runs (unattached) on the floor of the dishwasher cavity, and I'd run the brush along the inside of the base of the door (i.e. where it hinges) too, as there was more accumulated crud.
Anyone know how I can avoid an expensive call-out. It's out of guarantee/extended warranty as it's just over 5 year
