Why is my brake really hot and smells like burning rubber or plastic?
I have a 2001 Dodge Durango. A couple of weeks ago the left front brake smelled and was pulling to the left really bad and was getting really hot. Then yesterday I greased the pin in the caliper and cleaned the brakes a little, took it for a test drive and it stopped pulling.(i thought it was fine) Then today I took it for a drive after finishing greasing the whole pin, but I pulled into the garage and it smelled like burning plastic and was really hot again, but wasnt pulling. Someone please help, these are disc brakes by the way....and the right left brake is fine...

you either got dirt in the system or the line going to it has blockage in it causing it not to let the fluid return back,that was a real common problem on some of those vehicles,the caravans was the worst that i have seen to have that problem though,the lines are small and will stop up real easy,that wi cause the caliper to stick ad cause the brakes to drag causing it to get hot and even smoke them at certain times and it will also ruin your rotor,once the rotor is heated that hot you will need to replace it because it warps them real bad,good luck with it.
