The Incredible Machine: Even More Contraptions List Price: $29.99 Sale Price: $27.99 |
|
The Incredible Machine - Even More Contraptions This fantastic program will have your brain working as hard as a mandrill on a conveyer belt with bananas dangling in front of it. Don't worry, we'll explain. The Incredible Machine: Even More Contraptions gives players dozens of tools that perform an action: balls that bounce, cats that chase (and don't bounce), pulleys, ropes, generators, and yes, mandrill baboons on conveyer belts, bananas a-dangle in front of them. Then players are given a problem to solve with all of this crazy energy. Here's an example: in one puzzle called "Wood is Good," players must get three balls into a box, make wooden toast, and wood-smoke a hunk of gouda cheese for a mouse. Among the tools available to accomplish this task are a bike pump and an antigravity pad. And this is one of the easy puzzles. There are 250 gizmos to build here, some designed for single players and some designed for head-to-head puzzling competition. There is also a field where players can design their own Rube Goldberg Machine from scratch. The vast amount of projects and their complexity make this a program with staying power. Mercifully, there is a tutorial that takes rookies and right-brainers in hand. Players can choose four levels of difficulty: easy, which is quite challenging; to expert, which is insane. Mitigating the challenge factor is a function that turns the cursor into a question mark, and allows players to inspect gadget elements and get in-depth information about what each object and surface does. This game does a great job graphically. The well-rendered objects all perform as they ought, and form never hinders function. A thoughtful extra is a place where mad scientists can mess with their invention's appearance and background music: nice final touches for folks who want to take their custom-built games online to challenge others who are addicted to The Incredible Machine. This program's biggest strength is that it manages to put a humorous and creative spin on physics and engineering. They're not just giving you levers and weights to work with, they're giving you bottle rockets and alligators. A final wonderful point: there is no "right way" to build your contraption. If you scrabble something together that achieves the goal, it's right, no matter if you used the antigravity pad on the cat or on the bowling ball. No age rating given; we recommend ages 8 and up. --Anne Erickson The award-winning legacy continues. The newest installment in the Incredible Machine series, The Incredible Machine: Even More Contraptions combines 250 brand-new puzzles, a more entertaining head-to-head mode, the ability to swap puzzles with the world over the Internet, and an updated easy-to-use interface. |

Tektro Road Aero Bicycle Brake Levers, Standard R200 Sale Price: $26.14 |

The correct fit for larger custom wheels has been written about in countless articles and on many web sites. Here is just a quick review. One inch larger diameter custom wheels with a lower profile tire are usually safe to use. This method is called Plus One. The Plus Two method consist of a custom wheel 2 inches larger in diameter along with a tire that is two inches lower in sidewall profile. Using the Plus One or Plus Two method will make your upgrade to larger custom correctly and in most cases the new custom wheels and tires will fit in the wheel well with out rubbing.
To stuff a slightly larger custom wheel and tire under your fender is not an impossible undertaking. So, what can be done if a bigger than normal custom wheel and tire rub slightly on the inner fender lip as you are turning a corner or with added weight from one or more passengers? The most popular way to make those cool big rims fit is to roll your inner fender lip either using a baseball bat or a professional fender roller.
The old school method of flatting the inner fender lip is as simple as using a baseball bat. This method has a higher probability of damage than a professional fender roller. However if done slowly and properly a bat will give you equal results. Typically the baseball bat is placed in between the tire and the fender, with the fat part of the bat on the tire. The handle of the bat is at the 6 o'clock position and is tilted to apply pressure to the inner fender lip. By pushing the bat down it act's like a lever to bend the lip up and out of the way. Use a hair dryer to soften up the paint around the inner fender lip so it wont crack.
A more practical way of rolling the inner fender lip up and out of the way of your tire is a professional fender roller tool. The fender roller tool is simply bolted onto the hub of your vehicle and a roller applies firm pressure against the inner lip of your fender. With the use of a hair dryer to soften the paint around the lip and a slight pressure in an arching motion, you can bend the lip up and out of the way slowly and much safer than a baseball bat. For about the cost of one new tire, you can purchase a professional fender roller.

Heavy Equipment Operator
Sunshine Time for Heavy Equipment Operator
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics 2010-2011, construction is a leading industry, given its 1.8 million self-employed and unpaid family workers and 7. 20 million salary and wage jobs (during 2008). The majority of wage and salary jobs were in specialty trade contractors sectors, followed by residential and other buildings construction. Besides, as the world recovers from the 2008-2009 financial slowdown, spurt in infrastructure and construction projects is registered. These statistics clearly point towards an increase in demand for heavy equipment operators in the coming times.
Heavy machinery operators can find employment in sectors, such as construction, manufacturing, mining, public administration and forestry. People with certificates from accredited schools are usually preferred. As governments and municipalities are also restarting their halted infrastructural and construction projects, the demand for operators are at an all time high. Add to this, the several new and renewed civil engineering and residential projects of the current times.
Heavy Equipment Operator: Training and Work
A heavy equipment operator is responsible for moving goods, heavy material and equipment using machines, such as backhoe, excavator, loader, bulldozer and surface mining equipment. These machines also help in clearing lands, and aiding construction, renovation and maintenance of roads, buildings and other structures.
The demanding and challenging work profile of heavy equipment operators require them to work for long, odd hours, as per project urgency. Operators are, thus, required to be sturdy, with good coordination capabilities. They are also responsible for the maintenance and functioning of the machines, which are operated with levers, joysticks and pedals. The small, precise movements of these controls are responsible for the large movements of the machines. Thus, ensuring the machine’s smooth operations is a vital part of the job.
The size and technical complexity of these machines necessitate the hiring of skilled and trained operators. Although operators can learn the technical know-how during the job, a safer way is to learn at a training school. This is because schools teach the deeper aspects of heavy equipment handling and operations in a few weeks, unlike on the job learning that may take a few years. For instance, topics dealt in the curriculum include safety, pipe laying, mining, land clearing, landscaping, quarry operations, map reading, demolition of old construction, blueprint reading, controls dashboard, inspection and electrical systems.
Training at a National Association of Heavy Equipment Training Schools (NAHETS)-accredited training school is your ticket to becoming perfect at your job. Visit the NAHETS website www.heavy-equipment-school.comtoday and know more about its member schools and colleges.
