If you are looking for a great beginner board then the Burton Clash Snowboard might be a good choice for you. What makes this board "beginner-friendly?" Well to start off with this board has a very forgiving flex pattern that makes it ride really "soft." What this means is that you will be able to apply a good deal of torsion to the board in the area in-between and near the outskirts of where your feet are planted on the board itself.
Burton calls this their Cruise Control technology. It essentially helps beginners initiate turns more easily than they could if they were on a snowboard with a stiffer core. The softness rating on this board is 2 out of 10 with 10 being the stiffest so it is pretty darn soft! The Burton Clash also has a Negative Core Profile which makes the actual wood core of the board thinner between the bindings to give the rider the increased ability to apply that torsional flex mentioned. The thinner core in this area also helps you feel the snow better. The downside of the softer core is that it will tend to "chatter" at high speed. A softer board will also be a bit more difficult to control in "crud" at higher speeds. So the softness does come with a few compromises.
This board is really an all around freestyle board you can take anywhere on the mountain. You can carve through the trees, bust out in the park or bash the bumps with the same confidence level because this stick is so versatile. People who have reviewed this board are all truly impressed with how well it carves and how much they progress on this board. An additional benefit this board has for beginners is that it uses the Burton Lightspeed Vision base which was designed to be low maintenance and require less frequent waxing. You'll rarely find a really poor review on this board from a beginner. Advanced riders will comment that the board is too soft and you may even hear of boards being buckled by aggressive riders. Once again, the Burton Clash snowboard is a beginner snowboard and advanced riders who "go big" shouldn't be on this board.
The price point you will usually find this board at is around $300 but you may regularly see it online for less than $200. Be diligent in checking the price online and at your local outlets and you may walk away with a top of the line entry level board at a steal. Overall this board should be a no-brainer option for beginner snowboarders wanting to get a brand new board at an entry level price.

Corbin Bleu 101 (an Uncool Dad Learns About Corbin Bleu)
Ok, I'll admit it! I've never heard of Corbin Bleu until one of my best buds, Sal King, told me about this new fansite. My pre-school kids watch High School Musical, (don't ask!), and they totally grilled me when I asked who Corbin Bleu was! "Dad, you don't know who Corbin Bleu is? You're so uncool!!!"
They got me! I am "uncool" and not "up with the stuff" going on in Disneyland. Refusing to be called an old man in my 30's, I quickly sat down and watched the movies, which coincidently I got for my kids last Christmas, and brushed up on my Corbin Bleu. He wasn't in the first one much--which lets me know that he is a rising star! They gave him much more action in the second one, and I can only guess that he's got a lot of lines--and dancing--to do in the three-quel that will be showed in theatres. Oh joy! Must take my twins to see him!! (And I'll watch his co-star Monique Coleman, who I've become a fan of!!! WOW!)
Back to the award. I contacted the site administrator, Lisa J, about the site and she further increased my Corbin Bleu knowledge! Corbin Bleu has another movie called Jump In, that was also produced by Disney. Hey! I stopped watching Disney a long time ago ok? I didn't know!! Even more shocking is that I also had this DVD in my living room unbeknowst to myself!! I watched it too. Not bad! In fact, its very good!
Lisa J let me know that Almost Bullet is one of several Corbin Bleu fansites out there, but what makes theirs unique from the rest is the focus on Corbin's contributions to the community as well as his showbiz career!
The site comes with a LOT of VIDEO and I love VIDEO!!! You can see Corbin Bleu in his concerts and acting, etc! Whoa!! Concerts? Lisa J, you mean this guy sings and has his own CD aside from High School Musical soundtrack?
Once again the chants of "Oh dad, you are so uncool!", as my 8-year old daughter brought me Corbin Bleu's Another Side CD that I had purchased for her last year at Target. "Was I a bad father? Should I have really listened to this CD first, or at least KNEW who the guy was?"
I was ok. I listened to the songs on his CD and they were earworthy. Not any references to bootygrinding or vulgar language, whew! This kid is pure Disney! The CD is cute with songs that if you were in high school "back in da daze"--you'd say didn't exist in the younger generation anymore! My hats off to the producers of his CD and Corbin Bleu!
Lisa J filled me in that the "Bleuman", a nickname for Corbin Bleu is starring in a movie call FreeStyle due in theatres sometime this year where he is a motorcross rider. Hmm..I have to think about going to see that--I know nothing about the sport. Lisa J then further pushed the Bleuman by saying that neither did he! Corbin had to learn how to motorcross for the movie. Well,. if Corbin will go through all that trouble of learning how to ride, then seeing the movie is the LEAST we can do for him, right? Let's do that!
You can find out more about when FreeStyle hits on the section of the site called "Bullet Bulletins".
Hey, now I had to ask Lisa J what is up with Almost Bullet? The name and stuff?
Almost Bullet comes from Corbin Bleu's parents "almost" naming him Bullet Bleu, after the U2 hit "Bullet the Blue Sky". Ok, I get that! U2 was--and still is an awesome band!! Creativeness on that part guys!
The site also features a message board, chat rooms, games, a Corbin Bleu picture gallery, contests and links to other Corbin Bleu fansites and MySpace pages!
HIT IT all the waY!!!! Here are the all the official links on Almost Bullet and congradulations on winning fan site of the year.

Shark attacks 13-year-old Davidson girl
DAVIDSON, N.C. -- It is one beach vacation that a 13-year-old Davidson girl will never forget. She wasn't even in deep water when a shark attacked her at Wrightsville beach. Kendall parker is a pretty typical 13-year-old. She runs track, she likes funky toenail polish, she has a cute little brother. “I was like ‘oh my gosh, this could not happen to my sister,’” says Josh Parker. But there's ...
