Vintage cash registers have become desired and sought after collectors items in today's collectibles market.
Brands such as National Manufacturing Company, and NCR were among the most popular of their day, although smaller, associated companies such as Ideal, Ritty and Lamson are valued items as well. Today there are a wide variety of websites and articles that help in the history, sales and collecting of these items. Antique cash registers today are regarded as part of our cultural History.
First introduced in the late 1800's and meant to act as a sales register, and to prevent theft, store owners were not entirely won over by these machines and certainly did not need to rely on them. Manufacturers then began producing cash registers, as "show pieces", a way for store owners to attract customers
into their stores. These cash machines were intricately engraved and ornate, often with silver, brass and fitted with bells.
The old cash machines were primarily made of brass, but were also manufactured in wood, cast iron and nickel.
In 1917, with the burdens of the first world war, limits were established on metals in the United States and Great Britain, thus ending the production of the more elaborate cash registers and being replaced by cheaper materials.Today, antique cash registers are collectors items. People collect vintage cash registers for a variety of reasons. Some for the beauty and intricate designs alone, whilst others collect them because they honor a part of American and British heritage and marks a specific time in historical growth and progress.
In todays collectors market, some collectors choose to restore their antique cash register to its former glory, however, this is often a costly process even if the parts CAN be found. Others choose to leave theirs in the condition they found it in, choosing to let the passage of time speak for itself!
It is relatively easy to find one of these jewels on display these days, in antique stores or museums, Occasionally you will find them used in vintage decorating. You can even find some old historic hotels today still honoring their history by displaying their vintage cash register.
Whether you are a collector, or just enjoy being transported to times gone by, the Antique cash register offers a glimpse into early 1900's craftsmanship that cannot be compromised.
A look back in time to much more simple days, they make you want to tie up your horse and run a tab at your local dime store. Appreciating the James Ritty invention of the late 1800's is an important part of where we have come from, when we sit down to our laptops, and pay for our groceries with our credit cards.

Vintage Aviator Sunglasses
Vintage Aviator Sunglasses
These days the hottest shades for men and women alike are vintage aviator sunglasses. Nothing beats that old school aviator look and the bigger the better. Most fashions don't last more than a year or two but aviators still stand as reigning champion in the sunglasses arena. Not only have they lasted more than a couple years, they've lasted decades. Not only have they been around longer than most fashions, anyone can wear them and look cool. There are so many different styles that everyone can wear them and still stand out from the rest of the crowd.
Whether you are going for cheap sunglasses or high priced designer sunglasses, aviators are always your best bet. I usually lean towards the cheap side because I tend to lose or break some, and I always like to have more than one pair. The big mirrored aviators are the best for being out and about in the sun. Not only do they look cool, but man are they dark! You can almost look directly into the sun when wearing a pair(but I don't recommend it!). The second pair I always keep around isn't quite so dark, so that you can still have that vintage aviator look while indoors at the mall or a party. With so many different options from large to small, gold frame to plastic frames, you can find the perfect pair of aviators to fit your every style and stand out from the crowd, even if the rest of the crowd is following the same trend.
So do yourself a favor, buy a pair of vintage aviator sunglasses. Shop around, check out different styles and prices, you may even strike a good deal and snatch a pair for as low as five dollars. Stay cool people.

ANYONE BY CHANCE KNOW HOW TO MAKE MYSPACE LAYOUTS?
I've been trying to find a sweet layout for myspace. perferably short w/o showing comments, friends, details , or schools. I like vintage, classic, old school hollywood, stuff like that. If anyone could make me a layout that would be sweet, and make my day. Ive checked everywhere for one. Please please please please please. I would be eternally grateful.
Find a layout you like, and then go to google and type in
"hide friends and comments code"
get that code and put it on your profile edit.
then google
"hide schools code" or something along those lines.
The schools code should work, but I personally recommend using a DIV layout site
(my favorite is http://oblivionshattered.com/)
all you have to do is type in your friend ID in the Xs in the code...you'll get what I mean when you look it up.
