Claiming that their goal was as simple as to win, Ron Dennis from McLaren Automotive launched the new MP4-12C. With the track record McLaren holds, nobody seems even close to being dare doubting this claim by Ron Dennis. At its launching, the honor belonged to both Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button to unleash the car from its cover. This car comes with a mid engine and carbon fiber chassis. It is a surefire that there is not any other car manufacturer on Earth could do the same.
To this McLaren manufacturer, based on Britain, this is a moment of great pride. And, to prove it, Dennis tried to seduce those who came to the launching by showing the audiences 2 videos with 2 of the world's F1 champions mentioned earlier. The videos showed that both Lewis and Jenson took part in the McLaren MP4-12C research team, successfully handling Goodwood circuit by means of a pair of MP4-12C prototypes painted in solid black.
Another proof that this car is superior is the positive comments it receives from both Lewis and Jenson. The whole world knows that both these global F1 champions are not the kind of people who get satisfied quite easily. However, they both admire the performance shown by this particular car, the turning grip and also the comfort level the car is able to offer.
All those things above have been possible thanks to the fact that this McLaren MP4-12C has been designed following the guidelines that are known only to the F1 teams. As a matter of fact, what is even better is that Gordon Murray - both the legend and father of the McLaren F1 - admires this amazing car. He mentioned that there were plenty supercars around us, but none of them could have a chassis as sophisticated and advanced as the one that is owned by this car. He also added that this is the main selling point of the McLaren MP4-12C and this shows the tight relationship the car has to the world of F1.
Carbon fiber chassis built with less than half a millimeter in terms of tolerance along with a twin turbo V8 engine with a capacity of 3,800 cc, this McLaren MP4-12C is able to accelerate from a standstill up to 200 km/h in less than 10 seconds. Yet, even though McLaren has yet to announce the detailed specification for this amazing car, the manufacture claims that the car will come to a standstill from the speed of 160 km/h in a distance not more than 30 meters.
The car's wild performance comes from the light weight it has obtained thanks to the carbon fiber chassis it counts on. This carbon fiber chassis has reduced the weight of the car considerably that the weight does not even reach 1,300 kilograms. With that being said, this particular car is even lighter compared to Mercedes SLS and Ferrari 458, 2 of McLaren MP4-12C's rivals which weigh 1,620 and 1,485 kilograms respectively.
Yet, another advantage of the McLaren MP4-12C is that it produces less than 300 grams of CO2 in one kilometer. Well, at least that's what McLaren Automotive claims. So, once again, this car successfully beats its 2 rivals above, each of them produces 314 and 307 g/km of CO2 respectively.
This McLaren MP4-12C has also come equipped with an F1-inspirated seamless shift double-clutch gearbox. With this technology, the driver of the McLaren MP4-12C will have the power to adjust the gearbox ratio according to his or her needs, be it performance driving or daily driving. Yet, besides the F1-inspirated gearbox, the owner of this car will also find quite a few other things that are inspired by the F1 technologies as well. One example is the rocker-mounted gear selector. This one is exactly the same one as that used in F1 cars. This enables the driver to shift up or down by pushing or pulling the lever accordingly.
There are yet other cool stuffs McLaren MP4-12C owners may find inside their car. To start it off, there is a very sophisticated computer unit that comes with a 1.6-GHz processor chip and an 80-GB hard disk drive. There are also 3 camera units - among other stuffs, of course - located at the car front to enable drivers to record their driving actions.
Rumor has it the first delivery of the McLaren MP4-12C will take place in November 2010. The car will be released for £175,000. Even though this price range may sound to cost an arm and a leg to a lot of people, it is not quite likely to be a problem for those who will not want to miss the experience of driving this wonderful McLaren MP4-12C.

A POST COLONIAL READING OF NGUGI WA THIONG’O’S THE BLACK HERMIT

Just like every other theory, Postcolonialism is western because it was developed before post-colonial era. It is a political project about the subversion and deconstruction of colonialism. It concentrates on Eurocentrism by reacting against the imposition of European culture on other cultures. It aims at putting an end to colonialism, imperialism and cultural hegemony.
Postcolonial writers usually attempt to form a postcolonial version of their own countries, rejecting the modern and the contemporary, which is tainted with the colonial status of their nations. This is the awareness of representations of the non-European as exotic or immoral “other”. Postcolonialism therefore examines the representation of cultural diversity and its treatment in literary texts.
Postcolonial literary theory is applicable to the understanding of Ngugi Wa Thiong’o’s The Black Hermit, especially the phase of protest and cultural self-assertion. It is the phase of western criticism and agitation of cultural, economic and socio-political independence.
As an African play, the Black Hermit dwells on the problem of the postcolonial Kenyan society. The theme of the play centres on the conflict between an African culture and the Western culture as well as the conflict between the Christian ideology and the Traditional religious doctrine. In the play, Remi, the archetypal educated elite, embraces alien culture and becomes alienated. He allowed himself to be assimilated and he “assimilated”. He is forced to look down on his own people. Being the first university graduate in his village, he now considers the tradition of husbanding his late brother’s wife as barbaric. What he prefers is to marry a white lady, Jane, in the city.
The concept of hybridity is also foregrounded in the play. In order to call Remi back home for political leadership, the village elders devise the means of traditional magic power, while his mother, Nyobi, consults the pastor to use the power of the Bible. The pastor represents the Christian ideology. The missionaries champion Western education by teaching religion alongside education – the three Rs (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic).
Ngugi also reacts against the established authorities/value of the colonists in the play. The problems of taxation, oppression, forced labour and abuse of power become the bane of national development in postcolonial African society. It is emphasized in the play that tribalism always prevents people from advocating societal development.
In the play, Ngugi as a postcolonial writer per excellence hammers the question of what Uhuru (independence) has brought to the people. Although politically free, the people are still in social bondage – of tribalism, culture, economy and religion as patterned by the colonialists.
Like other postcolonial writers, Ngugi uses the play, The Black Hermit, to reclaim the African past and erode colonial ideology by which the past has been devalued. In the play, Remi goes into self-exile in the city. He later claims to be tired of the city. This suggests a sense of nostalgia or homesickness.
Such other postcolonial issues as disillusionment, tribalism and racism versus nationalism are portrayed in the play. The two sides involved in this conflict are the family, tribe and race on the other hand and the whole nation on the other. The playwright condemns factionalism at various levels of society in the interest of overall harmony and progress.?
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Ngugi Wa Thiong?o, the author of, Weep Not Child(1964), The River Between(1965), A Grain of Wheat(1967),The Trial of Dedan Kimathi (1976),Petals of Blood (1977) Devil on the Cross (1982), and so many other novels and plays was born into a polygamous family in Limuru, Central Province near Nairobi Kenya in 1938.. In 1946, his mother sent him to a mission school and in 1947 to a Kikuyu School at Karinga where he stayed until 1954. There was however a break in his education between 1948-1950 because of the Mau Mau insurrection in Kenya. He was at the Alliance High School between 1955 and 1958.He was at the Makerere University College in Kampala Uganda where he studied English. He was a Lecturer, Makerere University till 1970. Visiting Lecturer North-western University, Evanston, Illinois, 1970-71; Lecturer, University of Nairobi 1971; Associate Professor 1976. It was in October 1977 that he came out with the play Ngaahika Ndenda which when it was translated and published by Heinemann as I Will Marry When I Want, It was written in conjunction with Ngugi Wa Mirii. After only a month’s performance, the government revoked the license to stage the play. By December 1977, Ngugi was in jail.
Ngugi now lives and works in the United States of America where he believes he would get the freedom he needs to concentrate on his writing. He is happily married to Nyambura.

Oh lord, why? Do not brag about your black pride when you sound/type/look IG'NANT as he*l (yes, IG'NANT, not ignorant). Save the Internet slang/illiteracy for myspace! Don't get me wrong, my mom is black and my dad is puerto rican, I love them both and take pride in what I am.
It's little things like this that I don't understand. When I see or hear someone trash talking about my race (especially the black community) I step up to the plate, but honestly I see why whites and any other race look at blacks the way they do. We got those who "act right" and those who need some "act right". It's hard for the handful of blacks to prove everyone wrong when the amount of IG'NANT ones out weigh the ones with common sense.
And to answer your question, who cares?! It's crazy, that like saying which artist is better Tupac or Garth Brooks. One is a rapper and the other is a country artist how can you even put them in competition w/each other they're not the same genre..
