Recently I spent several days working just on recording videos for my very popular emini trading course. While doing so I came up with some ideas on how you could use video recording of this sort as a useful aid in mastering the art of emini trading. I would like to share them with you in this article.
The videos in question were recorded in real time while I was taking trades on the Bracket Trader simulator. I mention this deliberately for now I do not think it was the best way to do it. I now think that the best way to record them would be by using the playback function of Sierra Chart, a very popular charting and trading platform, sped up at least 5 times. There are some advantages to doing so that are not afforded when recording in real time. And, trust me, recording actual trades in real time is the worst way to handle this even if it sounds much more ambitious than the other options. This and similar issues that deal with the most effective ways to record educational trading videos for your own training are addressed below.
Why is recording from the playback the best way to do it? For two main reasons, at least: first, you can prepare your recording very well and, second, you can speed it up and as a result produce a shorter video that takes less space on your hard drive, not to mention that it also takes less time to watch it. Remember that you are still the main actor in this process. Yes, you and not the price or charts. You want your trade to be good so that you can review it time and again in the future. That may mean trying to do it a few times before you get it optimally right in order to preserve it in your video library as a learning resource. Trying it a few times until you get it right is a good way to train yourself in executing your trades optimally, but that cannot be done in real time as in real time you get only one chance to do it.
You can, though, do it as many times as you want using the playback data stream. And since you can speed things up too, this does not have to take as long as doing it in real time. These are certainly very useful advantages. Now, for each of your emini trading setups, you can take a few trades making sure that each time you are doing it optimally. Doing so multiple times until you get it right in the best way possible is, as I mentioned, a good training in itself, but once you have recorded a few videos like that you may only need to review them from time to time, say over a weekend, so that you are sure that you still remember how to do it optimally. And reviewing them from time to time is certainly another good way to maintain the best possible trading form.
You may also want to record examples of what you think are your worst or most common trading errors along with their painful consequences of losing money systematically. Reviewing frequently how badly they damage your bottom line could be a good way to reduce or even completely eliminate their occurrence from your trading.
Now let me contrast recording from the playback with recording actual trades in real time. There are two dangers here: one is missing a good trading opportunity when preparing the recording and the other is messing up your trades because of the extra clutter that the video software is bound to introduce. Even if circumstances like that were to happen only from time to time, it is not worth to take chances. Trading, day trading especially, is already a form of gambling, but if done intelligently it can certainly be quite profitable. But doing it in a risky way for the sake of showing off or something along these lines is the dumbest way to engage in gambling there is. Be prudent; don't gamble frivolously with your hard earned money.

Northern Cities Top UK Moving Poll, While Record Numbers Migrate Down Under
This August Bank Holiday, the nation is downing tools and turning its back on long weekend lie-ins in favour of moving house!
Today, Pickfords, a UK removal firm, launches the results of its annual Move Monitor which reveals that Thursday 24th August is the busiest moving day of the year, as literally hundreds of families choose to move house.
The Move Monitor which tracks around 19,000 home moves each year, pinpoints where the nation is moving to and from. And this year, the monitor reveals that more people are moving to Perth than Preston, Plymouth or even Putney! Pickfords' research revealed Perth as the most popular international city destination, with more people migrating there than any single UK city.
When it comes to removals in and around the UK, this year Nottingham is the most desired destination. Top of the city hotspots for the first time, Nottingham experienced more moves into and within the city than any other, knocking Glasgow to a number two position. Newcastle and Bristol are on the rise, whilst newcomers Bath and Reading came in at number 9 and number 10 respectively.
But overall it's those Southerners that love nothing more than moving house, 40% of all Pickfords' removals were within or to the South.

Cityscape
The Move Monitor has revealed the top moving destinations by city:
* Nottingham: Claims the top spot for the first time!
* Glasgow & Edinburgh: Scottish cities have experienced a decline in moving activity over the last year, but both cities still make the top five!
* Newcastle Upon Tyne: A property hotspot - this top five city saw the biggest increase in moving activity.
* Bath and Reading: New entries - both cities experienced an uplift in moving activity to put them in the top ten, replacing Yorkshire cities Leeds and Sheffield..
According to Nigel Lewis, editor of Location, Location, Location magazine "It's refreshing to see that despite all the newspaper headlines about Nottingham's crime problems people have been able to see past this and appreciate the city's attractions - including a fast-regenerating centre and the pleasant, almost rustic suburbs around its university. Its popularity also has a lot to do with house prices, which are significantly lower in Nottingham than in other cities in the region".
Regional Movers and Shakers
* South East: Most active moving region in the UK experienced a quarter of all UK moves (25%). 61% of all movers stay in the region, while 22% of people moving to a new region chose the South East.
* South West: Experienced the largest number of moves into the region from other areas of the UK, with just over 50% of movers arriving from outside the South West.
* Scotland: Top of the pops for people staying put. Of those movers within the region, nearly two thirds (65%) remained in Scotland.
* North West: The only region to experience a significant increase in moving activity over the past year, with 22.5% more moves than 2005. Of all the region's moves, 59% were into the North West from other parts of the UK.
* London: Only accounted for 7.5% of total removals activity. Almost twice as many movers left the capital than moved in from other areas, meaning London suffered the highest net loss of all regions.

computer geniuses: can my pc(xp) be saved or is it time for a new one?
so it's @ least 5 years old. it's had viruses spyware etc & we've probably spent enough money on it that we could've bought a new one. when i turn on the computer, everything seems normal until a black screen appears with some start-up options. 'start windows in safe mode', etc. @ the bottom of the screen, it says 'CMOS checksum error-Defaults Loaded Press F1 to enter setup'. i choose 'start windows normally' & everything seems normal. i log into my account & the desktop appears & then goes black. sounds like it's running but nothing's on the screen. i turn it off(w/ a switch @ the back of the computer), turn it on, & restart it. a robotic lady's voice(a recording) speaks from the actual computer. she says 'The processor might be damaged or not installed properly. [Damage dishcharge may be in battery].' (not sure what she said in brackets) everytime i turn it on, the voice speaks. its spoken b4 it's not sth. new. any ideas what's wrong? can this be fixed/solved? or just get a new one?
Sounds like the CMOS battery is about to die (because of the CMOS checksum error). They cost under $20.
If you are generally happy with the computer and it is performing all the functions you need you might want to keep it. If you need more speed, better graphics, etc.. you may consider a new one.
Off the shelf units (Compaq, HP) from chain stores offer great systems with lcd monitors for under $600. Good Luck.
