Overview of Beone's 2011 Road Bike Range
Dutch company BeOne were displaying their new range of road and cyclo-cross bikes at the Eurobike trade show, which includes major redesigns to their high-end carbon frames, as well as refinements to their aluminium models.
The new bikes were developed with help from the AA Drinks Professional Cycling Team, World Cup cyclo-cross and mountain bike racer Thijs Al and track rider Danny Stam. Like pretty much all the new road bikes on offer for 2011, BeOne's latest offerings boast lighter weights yet stiffer rides.
Pearl
BeOne's Pearl carbon race frame gets an enlarged steerer tube, Double Chamber carbon technology in BeOne's own fork and a BB30 bottom bracket for 2011. It also gets internal cable routing for a neater, cleaner look. UK frameset price has yet to be confirmed but is expected to be around ?1,450.
Storm & Mistral
There are three aluminium road bikes on offer - the ?999 Storm Comp, which has previously been very well received, ?1,299 Mistral Comp and ?1,499 Mistral Race.
The Mistral Race, pictured below, gets a Shimano Ultegra drivetrain, FSA Gossamer brakes, Easton wheels and weighs in at a claimed 8.8kg (19.4lb). The Comp version is a touch heavier at a claimed 8.9kg (19.6lb) and downgrades to Shimano 105.
Chase
Dutch cyclo-cross star Thijs Al has helped develop the BeOne Chase, so it's got a good chance of being a winner. And it's not a hybrid commuter/'cross/road bike with rack mounts and all that guff - this is built for racing. The Chase has an Easton EC70X fork, Shimano 105 drivetrain and Tektro CR520 brakes. Claimed weight is 9.5kg (20.9lb).
