John Deere Transmissions
The Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) is designed to be easy to use while still providing a constant level of power and efficiency. According to Case, the tractor will save enough fuel in 300 hours of driving to pay for the added cost. The last version has shift-through creeper speeds. New Holland T6000 Series
New Holland gives farmers four choices of transmissions with the newest in technology. The 16x16 autoshift has a programmable shift for both field and rode modes. The farmer simply selects the option that matches the situation and the equipment does the rest. The 16x16 electroshift gives four options in each of the four ranges. It has a clutchless range and is all controlled by a lever to make it as easy as possible for the operator.
The third option is a 24x24 dual command. The shifting is clutchless, which allows powershifting on the go in both directions and push-button operation. The power shuttle on the unit adds an underdrive gear for both directions. The last option is a 12x12 synchro command. This model has a mechanical shuttle instead of a power version, giving four gears in all three ranges.

High Performance Pontiac Clutch Kit: an Indispensable Tool in Gear Shifting
One of the most complex efforts Pontiac car drivers venture into is driving down into traffic-filled streets. A good driver must have thorough knowledge on how to appropriately handle his car. Among these is considering the appropriate speed traveled by the vehicle depending on the road conditions. For this reason, it is necessary that you know when and when not to shift gears so that you will not be considered a road nuisance by other car drivers. This job is done by the car’s transmission system. It is a group of components that serve the main function of keeping your internal combustion engine operating at an appropriate speed and make effective use of the engine’s torque. Your Pontiac vehicle would just be limited to a one gear ratio if it does not have a transmission. Three major components make up your entire transmission system: the hydraulic control unit, torque converter, and planetary gear unit. When the clutch is engaged, this clutch kit part transmits engine power to the transmission by clamping the disc assembly against the flywheel. On the other hand, the clutch disc is a metal disc that is pressed tightly by springs against the flywheel. It contains a ferrous friction material that can be found in brake pads and brake shoes in order to produce friction. Serving as guide and seat for the transmission, the pilot bushings make it possible for your pressure plate assembly to turn at speeds different than the disc assembly and input shaft. Lastly, the throw-out bearings is used to disengage the clutch by compressing the plate levers as it pivots forward. Eventually, your Pontiac clutch kit will be worn out due to aging. When this happens, you will notice some clicking, and moaning noises which would tell you that it needs immediate replacement.

Question about the Schwinn Katana road bike?
I'm thinking about getting this http://www.shopwiki.com/detail/?d=Schwinn_Katana_Road_Bike and customizing it. I got advice to get a bike with " 8 speeds in the back with STI (brake lever) shifting, and 2 or 3 gears in the front. " Is it possible to put those on the Katana road bike and at what price range would it be at including the bicycle which is at around $250. I'm sorry if I don't make sense, I don't know all these terms haha. I am a begginer/intermediate biker i think.

If your buying a cheap bike the price of changing gears and shifters would cost as much as your bike itself. STI shifters are > $100 by themselves. And 7 to 8 speed - it wouldn't warrant the cost. Mr G pointed out if you end up with a freewheel 7 speed you would have to change the wheel to get an 8 speed which is a cassette. If you go from 7 to 8 you have to buy at least the rear 8 speed shifter.
It's cheaper in the long run and much better to get what you want in the 1st place. A 7 speed STI shifter equipped bike would be fine to start with. If you enjoy road riding the best thing would be to upgrade to a new (or used) better bike later.
