Mirrycle Road STI Bicycle Mirror List Price: $20.00 Sale Price: $12.40 |
|
Developed exclusively to fit Shimano STI shifter/brake levers, the Mirrycle Road STI bicycle mirror makes it easy to tell when a car is pulling up from the rear. The mirror is easy to mount: just pull the rubber hood off the Shimano STI lever clip, slip the mirror base over the top, and then replace the hood. Once mounted, the mirror is located in the best possible position for watching the road behind. Just a flick of your eyes allows for a quick view of approaching cars or other cyclists. Best of all, the mirror doesn't get in the way of the STI levers, so you can shift and stop safely at all times. The Mirrycle road mirror--which attaches to either the left or right side lever--comes with all the necessary tools and is engineered to fit almost any STI lever. The Road Mirror will NOT fit on most Shimano STI levers installed on bikes after Spring 2010. One of the most highly respected and sought after brands in road bikes remains the Fuji Bicycle company in Japan. The company boasts an astounding 100 plus year history in the bicycle manufacturing industry with many notable accomplishments along the way such as the establishment of the now world renowned Tour de Japan race and the first to introduce the Shimano Dura Ace part group on its bikes. The following article will give a Fuji Newest 4.0 Review, one of the company's premier road bikes.
At a modest 500 dollars for a road bike, the 4.0 delivers a lot in an economical package. It features a 24 speed Shimano SL-R400 down tube shifter great for use in a variety of road inclines and environments. The chain is a KMC Z-72 and the brake components are made of a forged aluminum and are dual pivot R-310A's. Spokes are manufactured of 14G stainless steel and the stem is made from proprietary adjustable road aluminum. All in all a very durable light weight construction overview for a smaller price.
Many users reported that the strengths of the bike are its durable frame and comfortable ride. Some drawbacks were lack of smoothness or a lag in shifting and the actual placement of the down tube shifters claiming that they can be bumped with the knees. Many reviewers were first time road bike owners and commented on the great price combined with value in features. Many said it was an excellent entry-level bike for novice or intermediate road riders. Other positive comments are that the bike is ultra light and easy to carry, great braking capabilities, smooth ride and easy setup. Additional negative comments included a sticky or clunky shifting, practical but ineffective shifter placement, geared more for racing than novice or intermediate riding, and pedals do not accommodate toe clips.
The most frequent comment from users came back to the price of the bike, which was thought to be reasonable across all reviews. Compared to many other professional race bikes on the market, the price of the 500 dollar 4.0 is incredibly reasonable. Buyers can expect to pay at least 3 times that for models that are slightly more sophisticated from other manufacturers. For example, a 2010 Shimano Ultegra, which has similar features and construction to the 4.0, however it retails for up to 2,000 dollars. Overall, the Newest 4.0 has a good array of practical and useful features for the more economical price.

A Few easy Tips To Make You a Faster Cyclist
You start on a century and just a few miles into it you feel as though your bike gained 10lbs. Perhaps you are just commuting by bicycle and need to shave a couple minutes to get to your destination on time. Maybe you're a competitive cyclist in need of a more podium results. Either way you need to go a bit faster on your bike. While your local bike shop may propose a list of expensive bike parts sporting names such as Shimano Dura-ace, or Sram X0 to help you lose that excessive time that plagues you, there are a few simple tips that will save you time on the bike and money in your wallet.
First and foremost, make yourself aero. Remember even at low speed aerodynamcy makes a huge difference when you are the motor. Imagine curling yourself up into a ball while riding. Keep your elbows tucked in and leave over as much as possible to ensure you are not acting as your own parachute.
Keep your bike fly. Start with the basics, make sure your drive train is clean and your chain is in good shape. A dirty or worn out bike chain causes extra friction which eats away at the power you put you to the ground. Get a bottle of Clean-streak to clean your drive train. It's best to remove the chain and clean in detail the cassette/freewheel, and chain rings. Finish cleaning each part by blowing it with compressed air. After that, take off any unnecessary accessories to shave some weight. Do you really need that Iphone mount on your handlebar. OR what about all those saddle bags. Each item is slowing raising the weight of your bike and biting away at your power to the ground.
Stay fueled. You are the motor when on a bicycle, and the motor cannot run without fuel. Start with water. Carry an adequate water supply to stay hydrated. Even on days that you don't ride, dirnk lots of water to maintain hydration. With hydration squared away, possibly add some electrolyte supplement such as Nuun Tablets to your water. Alternatively there are many other supplements on the market to help you stay fueled, reduce fatigue, and optimizing strength. Most popular with the cycling community is are gels such as Hammer Gel or Cliff Shot Blocks.
Would you ride you bike with a parachute? I Didn't think so, but the reality is that your are probably riding with a parachute of sorts. Your clothing often acts as a parachute catching your wind and making you work against your self while cycling. The solution is simple, trade in your baggy clothing for some spandex cycling shorts, or jerseys are optimal and have the necessary pads to keep you comfortable on the bike. However, Underamour clothing provides a cheaper and viable alternative.
With those tips, get out there and ride your bike. You'll be surprised with how much faster your can go just by keeping your riding position aero. Combine that with the other tips and your are guaranteed to go a bit faster!

racing bikes gears? please help!!!?
if your bike had all shimano gears in one group-set say sora and you wanted to by only one part say the rear mech of another group-set in shimano like dura ace would that still work on tour bike?
forget what peter says, the gear shifters stipulate how far the rear mech moves, not the rear mech.the mech moves in one fluid movement which is set by the index ratio of the shifters.all rear mechs cover the same distance across the cassette which can be adjusted by your high and low micro adjusting screws at the rear end of the mech.i have completed this procedure many times on wide range of bikes, shimano and sram are compatible with each other also.i build bikes for a living so i know what i'm talking about...ride safe my friend!
