A new kid on the block
SRAM is now competing with Campagnolo and Shimano in the equipment market. For a very long time only Campagnolo and Shimano have manufactured equipment for bikes now it is nice to see something new on the market. SRAM has a feel very much like Campagnolo. The weight is more centralized in the body of the lever, unlike Shimano that puts the mechanism on the lever itself. This gives it a much lighter feel than a Shimano gearing. The SRAM is constructed of mostly carbon and alloy with a little titanium.
Equipment offered
SRAM offers equipment to outfit your entire bike. The equipment offered by SRAM is:
Brake Lever
Gear Shifter
Crank set
Rear Derailleur
Front Derailleur
Brakes Set
Cassette and Chain
Two performance groups
SRAM equipment comes in two very distinct performance groups. The two performance groups that SRAM offers are as follows:
o The SRAM Force Group Set:
If you are a racer or just prefer the best in technology, SRAM Force Group is what you want. Carbon is used for the brake levers, cranks and rear derailleur. Titanium is used on the brake pivot bolts and alloy for everything else. The front derailleur uses a little bit of steel too.
o The SRAM Rival Group Set
If you want top of the class alloys at an affordable price then SRAM Rival Group is what you are looking for. The Rival Group set is for the sport biker who may be able to afford the best, but just wants quality.
SRAM is well designed and well made
Both of the SRAM group sets are well made, designed and use the very best materials in the construction they were designed for. SRAM also does a very good job at keeping their pricing down in the realistic ranges. Since this is a fairly new manufacturer of bike equipment only time will tell if the equipment will hold up to the demands put on it from riders.
Can SRAM succeed
There is no reason why SRAM will not compete in the market with Shimano or Campagnolo. As soon as SRAM gets their product in the shops and installed on some professional team bikes people will begin asking for their products. As it was said before, only Shimano and Campagnolo have been manufacturing equipment for a very long time and a lot of people want another choice. Of course, only time will tell this too, but I believe that SRAM will be a successful manufacturer of bike equipment in the future.

How to Reassemble your bike chain ?
After you've repaired and measured your chain, it's time to reattach it to your bike. If you have an SRAM PowerLink-type chain, here's how:
1. After having measured the chain, remove any extra links using the chain tool.
2. Grab both connecting pieces that make up the master link.
3. Making sure to use inner links only, connect one piece from the inside of the chain and another piece from the outside of the chain.
4. Press the pins on both pieces through the rollers in the links, and snap the master link together.
5. Pull the chain to lock the pieces in place.
6. Visually examine the master link to make sure it's securely in place.
If you have a Shimano- or Campagnolo-type chain or a chain with reusable rivets, follow these steps:
1. After having measured the chain, remove any extra links using the chain tool.
2. Making sure to use inner links only, connect one piece from the inside of the chain and another piece from the outside of the chain.
3. Where the two ends of the chain come together, insert the replacement pin into the links just far enough to hold the chain together while you place it into the chain tool. If you have a chain with a reusable rivet, the rivet will already be in place. The pin has a tapered head that looks like a rocket ship. Make sure you insert the pin with the tapered head first. The head of the pin is designed to guide the pin into the chain and not to hold the chain together.
4. Rotate the handle of the chain tool to press the rivet into the chain. Be careful not to push the rivet too far into the chain. You want to push the tapered head of the rivet all the way through and out the other side to have the non-tapered head protruding only as far as the neighboring rivets protrude.
5. Using pliers, snap the tapered head off the pin

What is the diffrence between Shimano/SRAM (M10) and Campagnolo (ED10) when describing a road bike rim?
I am looking to buy a new rear road bike rim after my last one was destroyed. However i can not for the life of me figure out what some of the general terminology describing the wheel means. What is Shimano/SRAM (M10) vs Campagnolo (ED10) describing?
M10 and ED10 are designations for hubs, not rims. Shimano and SRAM use the same hub system, M10. Campagnolo uses the ED10 hub system. Either type of hub works with the same kind of rim. You order the hub that works with the component maker of your cassette.
