will a newer crank set make a difference?
Hi, I recently bought a used bike. It's in working condition, but my crank set look very old and wanted to swap it with a Shimano 105 or Ultegra 6600 or something similar. as stated, will i be able to feel a difference in pedaling? also can i use the current bottom bracket or will i have to get one with the new crank set. thank you.

I agree with WLE and not to be offensive but from that picture, the rest of the bike looks old too. The teeth don't look bad. How does it shift? How does the crank spin if you pull the chain free from it.
This bike looks so old that it likely has a serviceable bottom bracket. If it were mine I'd take it apart, clean and re-grease the bottom bracket bearings, check and replace the seals if needed, clean and polish up the crank and put it back together. Maybe some new bolts to replace the rusty ones.
If you want a newer crank I have two 53/39 Ultegra crank in 172.5mm length I'll sell cheap. You'd need to buy an Octalink bottom bracket though.
Putting a different crank on might open you up to alignment or fitment problems so again, I'd use what you have.
