Shimano Dura Ace RD-7900 Rear Derailleur List Price: $299.95 |

Shimano's dominant position in the bike industry is based foremost on one simple fact: They can forge metals with a creativity and sophistication far beyond anything their competitors can dream. Shimano factories are crammed with VW Bug-sized forging machines that spend all day long pounding alloys into highly precise little bits that -- after final assembly -- make a Dura-Ace bike brake and shift and look so fine. Shimano = Forging. It's as simple as that, and that's the reason why they long resisted the temptation to wander into the world of carbon. The rest of the industry, of course, embraced carbon with an untrammeled cheek-to-cheek, two-arms-and-two-legs enthusiasm, and while they were at it, they accused Shimano of being a fuddy-duudy for not doing the same. Shimano's position was simple: Anything carbon can do, forged metal can do better -- lightness, durability, cost, you name it.Still, there's something cosmetically sexy about carbon. And market trends are what they are -- consumers vote with their wallets, and they're choosing carbon. With the Dura-Ace 7900 series components, Shimano proves that while they may move deliberately, they are most definitely not fuddy-duddies. Case in point, the Dura-Ace RD-7900 rear derailleur --The Dura-Ace RD-7900 is Shimano's first ever rear derailleur that makes use of carbon fiber. The pulley cage and P-body are both made of carbon to shave off 16g in comparison to the RD-7800 rear derailleur. Shimano states that their choice of carbon vs. alloy here has no detrimental effect to long-term durability of the derailleur. And while the carbon vs. alloy debate has a timelessness to it akin to Red Sox vs. Yankees, there's something else going on with the RD-7900 that -- at least to us -- is far bigger news: It has an expanded chain wrap capacity in comparison to the RD-7800. What's chain wrap capacity? It's a simple math equation: (Big ring - Small ring) + (Big cog - Small cog) = Chain Wrap Capacity. |

All About Blow-Drying Your Shih Tzu's Hair
The Shih Tzu is one of the rare breeds that actually have hair like humans instead of fur. A Shih Tzu's hair is its crowning glory.
Blow-Drying:
The reason for blow-drying your Shih Tzu's hair after a bath is to get the coat as fluffy as possible. You want a lush, powder-puff look. To blow-dry a Shih Tzu's hair:
1. Place the damp dog on the table.
2. Work from rear to front.
3. Hold the dryer in one spot. As the hairs blow apart, brush the Shih Tzu's coat out once again.
4. Brush until the area is completely dry.
5. Move on the next spot.
To get a good blow-dry of your Shih Tzu's hair be especially systematic. Otherwise, some areas will look kinky and curly. If the Shih Tzu's hair dries too quickly, dampen the kinky areas and blow them dry.
If your Shih Tzu's coat is heavy and thick, you will need a stronger dryer with a more powerful air flow to achieve the desired look. Do not brush your Shih Tzu's hair heavily while blow-drying. Light, quick strokes are best.
If you have your Shih Tzu's hair cut short, you can use a regular cage and towel dry.
Types of Dryers:
There are at least four types of dryers you can use at home for your Shih Tzu the same as a professional would use. These are:
1. A cage dryer.
2. A floor dryer.
3. A wall dryer.
4. A Pet dryer.
Cage Dryer: After your bath your Shih Tzu, towel-dry and place your Shih Tzu in a cage. A professional cage dryer will hook onto the cage. Set the dryer to either warm or hot. Your Shih Tzu should dry in a short period of time.
Floor Dryer: A floor dryer is used for blow-drying. A floor dryer will usually have a stronger blow than a cage dryer. Floor dryers are usually mounted on a movable stand. You can move the dryer in a variety of positions.
Wall Dryer: A wall-mounted unit is also available. The maneuvering for blow-drying is done with a hose. There are several advantages to this type of dryer. They are:
1. Does not take up space on the floor.
2. The hose is easy to maneuver.
3. Since the blow is stronger through the hose, the dryer requires less electricity.
Pet Dryer: Just about any human hair dryer can be used as a pet dryer. Some companies manufacture special made pet dryers. They work fine, but will not give you the same look as a professional dryer.

What is the difference in long medium and short cage derailleurs?
I have a cannondale f5, and I have no idea what kinda derailer it has. It does have 8 gears in the rear if that means anything and it is a sram sx.5. I would like to upgrade to the sx7, from ebay.
Randy j is right, you need a long cage for this bike. The cage is the piece of the derailleur that has the two little wheels in it, known as 'jockey wheels'. In a short cage, they are close together. In a long cage, farther apart. Like Randy said, the longer cage helps take up the chain slack when you have a very wide gear range like on this bike.
When you say 'upgade', why? Is there something wrong with the old derailleur? If not, spending more money on a new better set of tires will get you significanlty more improvement than a derailleur upgrade, especially only going from the x5 to the x7. Spending more money on a better derailleur will only hurt that much more when you catch a stick in your rear wheel and rip the thing off.
I've been riding and racing MTBs for over 15 years. I learned early on that putting lots of money into a high end derailleur only makes you spend more money. The irony of it is, the more money you spend on a derailleur, the sooner it gets destroyed, while a cheap one seems to last forever. No, I don't have any proof of that, but it sure seems that way.
The best bang for your buck would be a set of continental twister pros. If you have a few hundred to spend, see about springing for a set of Mavic Crosslands. New wheels will make it feel like a new bike.

@JosPear Keep hearing Chael Sonnen has a tough chin. Isn't Chris Leben's chin tougher and Anderson Silva put him down? Are we sold on this bout being for real?
