Cannondale Gemini 06. 2000 dolars?
Howzit i am buying a Cannondale Gemini 06 model for 14 000 rand which is 2000 dolars. It is in mint condition with a rock shox boxxer team fork and avid juicy 7 breaks etc. Is this a good deal? How much did the cannonale gemini with boxxers and avid juicy sevens retail for in 2006?
I dunno.....it depends on the bike. According to http://www.bikepedia.com , in the U.S. the Gemini for '06 wasn't sold stock with either a Boxxer or J7's. In fact, it came with a 7" fork, not the 8" that the Boxxer on this one probably is. The more expensive model (900) came with a Marz fork, HFX9 brakes, and the suggested retail was $2200.
Keeping in mind that Cannondale may have spec'd the bike differently for the European/World market, I'd want to know more about the bike and what was on it. Also, if Cannondale didn't spec the Boxxer and the owner put it on, I'd want to make sure he didn't ride it hard and stress the frame. Even if it looks mint, I'd ask questions before buying.
So....if the original new bike was upgraded with the fork and brakes, it's worth more than the original retail up front, but unless it wasn't ridden very much it might be worth less than what he is asking (at least according to the norm in the U.S.). For example, a stock downhill bike that was used for downhilling and is in average to very good shape might sell for $1600 if it cost $2200 new and was 2 years old. That price varies, of course, with upgrades and depending on condition.
