The 2010 Pontiac Vibe is a commercial cousin of the Toyota Matrix. At NUMMI plant, these two models are manufactured by General Motors and Toyota jointly in California. The new Vibe has peculiar exterior styling, and unique set of options.
The Vibe is currently being marketed in GT, AWD, and base trim levels. The base trim Vibe models have only front-wheel-drive and are incorporated with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine for generating 132-horsepower along with a torsion-beam rear suspension. Similarly, the models with all-wheel drive have a free rear suspension along with an improved 2.4-liter mechanical engine for 158 hp. The sporty GT trim level comes with front-wheel-drive with a great 2.4-liter engine as well as a free rear suspension.
Even though all models are using different engines, a five-speed manual transmission comes as a standard on all versions, excluding the all-wheel drive model that is installed with a four-speed automatic. On the trim GT, a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional and a four-speed automatic transmission is added on base models. The trim Base in the Vibe also is installed with a 2.4-liter engine added with a four-speed that replaces the five-speed automatic transmission at additional cost.
The interior of the 2010 Pontiac Vibe has intuitive, simple controls and gauges. Majority of the cabin pieces and bits have high build quality and elevated roof line of the Vibe with spacious passenger interior room. In the department of safety, the 2010 Pontiac Vibe has OnStar, antilock disc brakes, full-fledged air bags, and stability control.

Prevent Rear Wheel Hydroplaning
Front wheel drive vehicles are prone to rear wheel hydroplaning on slippery surfaces such as mud, snow, water, slush and loose gravel. It can be quite disconcerting when it happens because it's quite unexpected. One would usually assume that the drive wheels will slip first, as is common for rear wheel drive vehicles, but with a front wheel drive vehicle it's most likely that the rear wheels will slip out from underneath you and fishtail. They behave much like a rear wheel drive vehicle with too much power applied to the drive wheels.
The cause of this phenomenon is loss of traction. Loss of traction can be caused by many factors, but most likely it's tire wear. Since the front wheels are being driven, they tend to grip the road better. This leaves the rear wheels prone to "floating" on the road surface. When the surface is slippery or contains loose material, and vehicle speed is sufficiently high, the result is drifting of the rear wheels in what amounts to a fishtail.
It matters little if the road surface is wet, snow covered or covered with sand or gravel. All matter of loose material will act on vehicle control in much the same way - allowing the rear wheels to lose traction and cause vehicle drift.
The only remedy for such a loss of traction while on the road is to reduce speed when road conditions are such that water, mud or loose material is present. The cure is to replace tires with those having better tread depth for greater traction.
When replacing tires on front wheel drive vehicles, it's safer to make certain that the best tread is on the rear wheels. This will help eliminate rear wheel hydroplaning. Many tire shops won't replace just the front tires because of this potential hazard.

The cassette can be completely removed and the ratcheting mechanism in the hub should still catch in the forward direction. You may have a broken, or rusted frozen dog that makes the clicking noise when you coast or pedal backwards.
If it is not a cassette style, but rather an older free wheel style the same diagnosis, just a different way to remove the gears. Both are discussed and illustrated at the above link.
