You can loose weight through juicing and it can be lost quite rapidly. It is possible in extreme cases to see the loss of up to 30 to 40 pounds in just one month. When an individual see this kind of dramatic weight loss they immediately think, wow! this is fantastic, goal achieved losing weight or fasting on a fruit juice diet is the way to go.
But really it isn't the way to go. Now this is a little funny for me to say this because I am a pro-juicer. I drink the stuff freshly squeezed once in the morning and once last thing at night. So why am I against using fruit juice to loose weight? I'll explain.
I am not against drinking fruit juice whilst on a diet, I am just not a fan of the idea of fasting using fruit juice. Now I am not a doctor or any form of medical practitioner, but to me deciding to start fasting this month on a diet purely made up of liquid isn't the best idea.
To be honest I'm not a believer in diets anyway. Do you know that studies have shown that many people who lose weight on a diet end up putting more back on than they originally had in the first place.
The thing is diets are self defeating. 99% of the time you are doomed even before you begin. The problem is that dieting is always short term. It's also something that requires immense amounts of motivation and self sacrifice and it's the sacrifice's that you make, that end up bringing the whole thing down and returning you to your former weight.
Once you say to yourself "right, I'm starting this diet tomorrow, no more cake, no more soda, no more fries etc etc" you create a craving. By banning 100% the foods that you love you end up putting them on a pedestal and quite often what happens is once you come to the end of your diet, you feel compelled to go take a big juicy bite out of that chocolate cake you have been dreaming about for weeks or months. Then Poof! the weights back on and very often more than what you lost on the diet.
If you think about thin people, many can eat whatever they want and never seem to put on weight. Very often the reason for this is their metabolism is fast. Now the good news is there are techniques out there that will if applied increase your metabolism and there are methods which when used together can help you to eat less at one sitting.
This is one of the secrets to loosing weight and keeping it off. It's not denying yourself the things you love it's changing the way you approach, eat and think about food.
There is a great book by Paul Mckenna. Now I have to put this in here, I am not selling it or reaping any kind of monetary reward from mentioning it. But reading it makes so much sense. In it and on his TV program he covers the idea of starving yourself to loose weight as you do when fasting on freshly made fruit juice.
Why it's not a good idea to fast, is because the body is a clever machine. When all of a sudden you deny it the foodstuff that it has been used to getting year after year, it goes into a kind of survival mode. The body realises that it is not receiving the fats etc that it is used to receiving on a regular basis and this is the clever bit. Instead of you loosing fat because you are eating less of it, the body stops using as much and battles to store as much as possible.
This is why on many regular diets, people are stumped as to why they lose so little weight. I mean they cut their calorie count down to the bare minimum, but yet the weight still stays there. The reason why, is that your body is now storing every ounce of the stuff it can get it's little hands on. Oh and guess what when you come off the diet, your body is still in storage mode so when you have that chocolate cake, the body puts all the fat in the bank and more so than when you started your diet.
So fasting on fruit juice can help you to loose weight, but in the long run I wouldn't even entertain it because the likely end result is you'll be back where you started.
