Kenda K838 Slick Wire Bead Bicycle Tire, Blackwall, 26-Inch x 1.95-Inch Sale Price: $14.99 |
|
Kenda K838 Slick Wire Bead Bicycle Tire, Blackwall, 26-Inch x 1.95-Inch comes highly respected аnԁ іѕ always a regular сhοісе amongst many people. Thіѕ product contains blackwall, wire bead аnԁ ехсеƖƖеnt tire. Patterned after motorcycle tires, the Kenda K838 Slick Wire Bead Bicycle tires offer increased speed and reduced rolling resistance for MTB and hybrid bikes--without sacrificing traction. Unlike a typical MTB knobby tire, the K838 Slick provides a smooth and consistent rolling surface that allows the tire to gain and maintain speed on paved and hard packed surfaces. Meanwhile the tire's wider, 1.95-inch profile and directional grooves provide the traction demanded by all terrain riding. The grooves also effectively channel water to the outer edge of the tire so that you can maintain a grip on wet roads, through puddles, and on wet trails. The blackwall sides reduce the overall weight profile of the tire and the wire bead pattern increases the tire's strength and durability. While not meant for serious off road riding, the Kenda K838 is a good choice for riders who want a smooth and fast experience on the road, but who also want to keep their MTB or hybrid trail ready. Specifications: Wheel Size: 26 by 1.95 inches Weight: 737 grams Maximum recommended PSI: 65 pounds Minimum recommended PSI: 40 pounds |

Buying a bicycle tube is getting just as complex as buying a hamburger these days. Ten questions later and you're still trying to get back on the road, and all you really care about is getting one that will fit, not blow up on you and let you get back to the serious business of riding.
But there is one feature that will put a quick stop to any motion. That might be the types of bike tire tube stem. If you don't get the right one not only will it not fit into the valve hole on your rim, but if you go to top up your air pressure you may find that your air pump fitting doesn't work and you're stranded with no way to adjust your bicycle tire pressure or fix a flat. Thus it is best to confirm the exact configuration of your of bike tire tube stem BEFORE you need to know what you are talking about.
It is also a critical piece of information when purchasing a bicycle pump as you need to know what fittings are necessary to match pump nipple to the types of bike tire tube stems that you expect to have on your bike.
There are typically two types of bike tube stems. The most common is the Schraeder valve, or sometimes spelt as a shrader or Schrader valve, you pick and the newer, sleeker design of a Presta valve.
The Schraeder valve is the old fashion design you are familiar with on your car tire. It is readily available at most local hardware stores and bicycle shops. It can be filled up with the standard gas station pump, and always has a valve stem that can be removed if you wish to add tire sealant for some level of puncture resistance if that is a feature that you desire.
Presta valves are newer and more aerodynamically designed. The slimmer profile requires a smaller port hole in the bike rim making it particularly important to the road rim manufacturer. The road rim is so thin that the size of air valves port hole can affect significantly the rigidity of the rim,
Too large of a hole to give access to the air valve for tire inflation can create a weak spot on the rim especially when discussing heavy riders or jumpers. The smaller the valve the smaller the hole. Thus presta valve rule here! They do have other advantages as well, but also do have their own problems. Nothing is ever a clean win!

Off the road – A new bike will change your style
Tired of riding a normal bike on normal streets? Get rid of your old bike. Stand up and go to the next shop and buy a new bicycle to ride off the road. But … which one should you buy? Why is this bike more expensive then this one although they look exactly the same?! The guy in the shop himself won't tell you the difference but he recommends you the more expensive bike. So sit down and think of what type of riding you will choose. There are some different types how to ride off road.
First one is Downhill(DH). As the name clearly says, you will ride down the hill. The bike will be a full suspension bike. You need a very long travel and a very good MTB Fork. Travel will go up to 300 mm. It is usual that these suspension forks will have double crown. This will give the fork more stability but even more weight but weight is not a big problem here. Also the rear shock has to be very good. The bike you need will be heavy but you need that weight. The weight is a result of the high stability needed otherwise the frame could brake. The wheels should be 25'-26''' x 2,4-2,5 to avoid damage of small stones and get the stability. The shifting system is very different because there is only one ring in the middle of the bike and normally a nine ring cassette at the back. Disk brakes are the only option here. They should be minimum 180mm to avoid thermal problems.
The second type is the Cross Country(XC). A MTB Cross Countryis an off road competition where the participants have to drive through the same circuit multiple times. The fork will be one of the most expensive ones. They have to be very very low in weight. The travel can be around 40mm to 100mm. The XC suspension forks will utilize air springs and air pressure, rather than the more common coil system. The frame could be a fully or even a hardtail. This depends on your preferences. Also V-brakes or even disk brakes are in use. The full bike will weigh around 13kg but if you'd like to spend more money you can even get a 8-9kg bike.
There are some other types but the bike wouldn't change that much.

Got any suggestions(links) for MTB tires that will fit a rim that has tires that are 700x35c?
It's a trek hybrid 7100 bike and I dont know the rim size off hand and I know the rim is a matrix 550 and the current tire is a bontrager invert 700x35c, which is kind of a street tire. But what kind of mountain bike tire could fit on this bike?
Alright...
Because you have 700cc size rims, the style of tire you are looking for is a "cyclocross" tire. Cyclocross is a sport that is essentially mountain biking on a road bike (similar at least).
They use 700cc wheels, but the tires have mountain bike treads. Almost any manufacturer will make a cyclocross tire. Your local bike shops should also have a few.
