Motocross has taken a hit in recent times with endless complaints over the levels of noise pollution. The noise some would say is all part of the fun and excitement, but for nearby neighbors it is far from that. To add insult to injury the noise from the big 4 stroke engines carries for miles, meaning it is a source of frustration for people who are not even close to the track. Enter the electric motorbike.
The Quantya Track electric motorcycle looks like a scramble bike. It has most of the features that any other motocross bike would have but there are some key things missing. The most noticeable is the lack of an exhaust. When you sit on the bike you will notice there are no foot pedals. The are no gears, therefore no need for a clutch. The rear brake is on the handlebars like on a bicycle.
The biggest differences are seen when you turn the bike on. It makes no noise whatsoever. Just the lights on the battery gauge come on. When you ride, the bike accelerates fast. There are no gears so it is just twist and go. It takes a little practice to get your riding smooth. The only noise is that of a small whirring like on a remote control car, and then the noise of the chain going round and the tyres on the ground. The noise carries no further than a hundred metres. For all intents and purposes the Quantya Track electric motorbike is totally silent.
It sounds perfect in many ways. There are however many skeptics. Sure it would go a long way to improving access to the sport and is not dependent on fossil fuels. There are limitations however such as the limited range the bikes have. The price is still relatively high due to the new technology, and the top end speed is no match for combustion engine bikes. Over the coming years though, it is likely to change. Electric motorbikes are developing fast and being green is not just trendy anymore - it is a must.

Big Pocket Bikes – Enjoy Racing on Tracks
Big pocket bikes are designed to be used for street use as well as racing. Therefore they are bigger in size compared to the original pocket bikes.
The original pocket bike
Original pocket bikes are known as mini-motos. They are small sized motorcycles of about 47 inches long and 18 inches tall. They are usually run on gas.
Pocket bikes are speedy bikes. The smaller varieties reach the speed of 35 kilometers per hour. The racing models can reach speed up to 45 miles per hour whereas the higher end ones can be as fast as 50 miles per hour.
Pocket bikes have many similarities with ordinary bikes like the disc brakes, tires, fairings, light perimeter frames and swing arms. The smaller versions are portable and can be easily carried under your arms.
The bigger version of the pocket bikes
Whereas the original pocket bike is small and sleek, and has a 50cc engine, the bigger pocket bikes have a 100cc 4 stroke engine. They also have bigger structures and are bulkier. They are also known as midi motors or midi bikes.
You are not meant to use the small pocket bikes on the streets as they are only meant for racing. So due to popular demand, the bigger version has come into being for use on the roads as well.
These larger bikes are double the size of the authentic pocket bikes. And can reach the speed of 65 miles per hour. However, large they may be, they are still smaller compared to mopeds but sleeker to look at.
Points to remember while using a pocket bike
1. It is obligatory to have a motorcycle license to be able to ride on your bike on the street in some states. Enquire in your states licensing office for the legal age.
2. Bigger pocket bikes are not as easy to ride on, as they require greater balancing skills, so be sure to practice on the bike prior to hitting the road.
3. Be sure to have proper lights and rear view mirrors on your pocket bikes
4. You have to follow all the safety rules and be very cautious while riding on these bigger pocket bikes.
The rules vary from state to state so what applies in one state will be not applicable in the other. If you find that bigger pocket bikes are not allowed by law to be ridden on your streets, please follow the instructions. If you waive the law then you stand a chance to be fined and even jailed. The authorities have good reasons to frame laws in order to prevent accidents and injuries. So, have all this in mind and thoroughly enjoy a good ride.

I think my dog has OCD. Any Ideas???
I have a 12mth old Belgian Shepherd who is extreemly active. He has developed a habbit of running laps in the backyard, he has little courses that he runs to the point that now my yard looks like a dirt bike track. He does it more in the rain. We thought it was a boredom thing at first as it started in wet weather when he wasn't getting walked or played with as much but now it is a daily ritual that we can't stop. I don't really want to tie him up as I think he would go chain mad. He has lots of toys and an active child to play with but lately is more interrested in those awfull tracks... Any help or advice would be great
According to merckvetmanual.com
Obsessive-compulsive disorders have the following necessary condition: repetitive, stereotypic motor, locomotory, grooming, ingestive, or hallucinogenic behaviors that occur out-of-context to their normal occurrence, or in a frequency or duration in excess of that required to accomplish the ostensible goal. The following condition is sufficient: as above, in a manner that interferes with the dog’s ability to otherwise normally function in its social environment. Although it can be debated whether animals can obsess, it appears that they perceive and experience concern; therefore, it is likely that they can obsess. A separate issue is that of relative intensity, ie, whether a behavior is excessive, or whether a manifestation of an OCD may be a determination of degree. Careful description and recording of behaviors and their durations could provide data that would permit evaluation of the extent to which such behaviors may lie on a continuum. Good histories and observation are important because in some peculiar forms, OCD could resemble seizure-like activity. By definition, some epileptic or seizure-like activity is stereotypic, which is one reason why this explicit and specific diagnosis category is preferable to that of stereotypic behavior. Cats also exhibit OCD. In both cats and dogs, OCD runs in families and, therefore, breed lines. In dogs, the form of OCD exhibited appears to be affected by the jobs/tasks for which the breed was selected (eg, herding breeds often chase their tails).
If your dog does not meet the criteria, then he is just bored and needs more exercise, and more importantly a job to do. Hope this helps. Punishing him or stopping him may force him to relieve his boredom/stress in more destructive ways, including self-mutilation. Get him into agility or flyball-have fun with your dog. You have a great breed take advantage of his intelligence, and desire to do things for you.
