He was one of those gifts at random from a family member gave me for Christmas. I had a workbench in the garage and was not sure of the usefulness of a "partner" would be. Oh, how I know. Can be installed outside to reduce dust in the garage, cut the boards to drill a hole through it, to use parts of the press as an authority, the stability of the project. This case has saved my ass in some of the larger projects that have a permanent job board on the wall, it would be simple as possible.

The product arrived exactly on the dtae promised, I actually saw the UPS truck stop, so I was able to open the door and have the delivery man put the box where I wanted it. After I got the table out of the box, I turned to the instruction sheet. I found the instructions VERY difficult to follow, although it was obvious to me what steps had to be taken and the order in which they should they should be taken. After some choice words to the unknown writers of the instructions, I was able to put together a "Thing of Beauty". I have used the equipment on several projects and it has performed perfectly. Thank you for an excellent, usable, professionable product, and I only voiced my frustration about the clarity of the assembly instructions to help you fix them for future purchasers of an EXCELLENT product.

I purchased this Workmate to replace one that I had for over twenty years. This one is much lighter than the older version and easier to move around and hang on the wall. Seems to have the same basic accessories as the older model, but the table insert makes a much bigger work surface when using as a work bench.

Better than a guy
I love this product. As a renter, I don't have a designated work space. This convenient folding work surface lets me set up for projects anywhere. And the vise/clamping system is like having an extra set of hands. The Workmate is sturdy and yet collapses easily for storage. Hey, it's as good as a guy--with no back talk.

A handy, versatile, tool
The Black & Decker WM425 Workmate is a handy, versatile, portable tool within its limitations. At the Amazon price it's a no brainer. It is not a precision clamping device for fine woodworking nor a heavy duty work bench. It is, however, very useful and unique for some tasks. My advice to prospective buyers would be to examine one before you buy and visit some of the woodworking/handyman forums on the web for some opinions as to it's suitability for your use.

Sturdy and reasonable
Here's what it's all about: the front wood slat is attached to a screw mechanism and works sort of like a vise. It moves about 4" in and out when you turn the handles. The two rear wood slats are removable and can be locked in at various distances from the front slat so you can clamp small or large things. The four legs fold in and out. The whole tabletop can be tilted and locked vertically 90 degrees. The unit is very sturdy and makes good use of the stamped steel frame geometry for rigidity while not weighing too much. It folds flat for storage. The folding mechanism is such that it will not accidentally collapse on you.

Beats using a pair of horses
It's "OK", and beats using a pair of horses with an old door on top. But that's about it. I was surprised to see that the "chain" used for the vise hand cranks was perforated vinyl tape. That being said, you can't grip anything real tight, because the sprockets will slip in the holes.
If you are over 5' tall, the optional leg extensions are a necessity. Without using them, you'll end up with a major back ache from bending so low.

How can I fix my shift lever on my dirtbike?
I got a dirtbike, and the guy that had it before us lost the shift lever, and decided to use vise grips to shift. Well that really tore up the shift knob, so know I have a shift lever, but it wont fit on and clamp on properly because the knob is so disfigured. I tried JB weld, but it didn't work. How can I secure the lever to the knob? Any suggestions?
A nasty solution (that doesn’t involve removing and splitting the engine), is to loosely fit the lever, and use epoxy glue and pins to replace the missing splines – you could always weld it on but that would be semi-permanent and a pain if you then drop it and need to replace the lever again – both of these options are horrible bodges but can work temporarily at least.
