A folding mountain bike may not be sturdy enough for serious bikers, or on very rough terrain, but it has its place and sure comes in handy at the most unexpected time.

can this bicycle bicycle hub be rebuilt?
Can a shimano deore lx rear hub be rebuilt? one of my bikes has quite alot of side to side play in the rear wheel and i was wondering if the hub can be rebuilt or if it would be better to just get a new wheel/hub. really not looking to spend alot of cash on this. the bike is an old trek 8000 sl if anyone was wondering. I took it to a local bike shop a while back and they just packed more grease in, which did nothing to solve the problem. i won't be going back there.

your sure its not the wheel is out of true that it is moving at the hub
i'm pretty sure the the hub has loose bearing
If it is moving at the hub you need to find a new bike store as that sounds like the cone nuts are not tight.....this should have been done when the bike store repacked the bearings, also any decent bike store should have replaced the bearings as well...
so if your question is can the hub be rebuilt??? yes
but if you don't know how to build a wheel then a new hub will cost you alot more then a rebuild, 35-40 for the hub and another 35-40 to build the wheel
my suggestion to you is to take it to a different bike store and have the bearing repacked again, MAKE SURE IT IS A DIFFERENT STORE, my guess is the first store did nothing or left them loose so you would buy a new hub and spend 80+ at there store
